I am sick of my library and need some new jams. Here are some guidelines of what I listen to by genre. Bold means i pretty much only listen to that.

Alternative/Emo/Screamo/Hardcore/Rock:

Chiodos post Craig Owens (i.e. illuminaudio)

Brand New

Lower Definition

Scary Kids Scaring Kids

Circa Survive

Vacationer

Fall of Troy

the Bronx

Every Time I Die

Local Natives

HipHop/Rap:

J Cole

Roots

Drake/young money

Jay

I havn't added new songs to by library in years. Stuck in 2006 pretty much. Open to any and all new suggestions.

Touche amore, la dispute (wildlife is an excellent album), pianos become the teeth. You might like those bands.

It sounds like you're more into instrumentals that bump over lyrical rap..but have you listened to any Kendrick? I love all of top dawg, i would recommend Kendrick's entire discography and some of Q's newer stuff. Joey Bada$$ has some really catchy instrumentals as well. And i just got this album that uses some weird samples but i've been listening to it nonstop the past two days- Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them x Blue & Exile. I heard the first track in an edit.

Holy shit. Another NS'er knows about them! Cool.

Try Converge (hardcore), and the Sound Providers (very jazzy hip/hop).

I just checked out chon and im listening to the song perfect pillow. This is really math rock-y. my ex boyfriends band did this type of stuff. Do you know st. vincent?

Don't laugh guy, Young Money has Jae and Vado, who are both lyrical beasts. Just because YMCMB is most well known for those 4 goofy artists, doesn't mean all of them are goofy.

Also, OP, I can recommend rap music only, since that's all I'm interested in. Judging by your examples given, I would tell you to download Slime Flu 1, by Vado.

Alternative/Emo/Screamo/Hardcore/Rock:

Adept

Senses Fail

Her Bright Skies

Hopes Die Last

Escape The Fate

Those are some of my favourites.

thank you, you are great. Local natives definitely top 3.

Also, this is real. As I said, I havnt really gotten new music for a long time. And for some reason, the drake "drizzly" rogers mixtape works for me.

Thanks everyone for serious answers. Slayer is a little too anti-Semitic for me.

Jazz nu jazz?

Saw them live, amazing.

You need time to really listen to complete albums if you want to find new artists.

What's up in my itunes, these aren't all ''new'' artists, but all worth it :

The XX

Portugal the Man

Ben Howard

Alt-J

Half Moon Run

Sigur Ros

James Blake

Vance Joy

Milky Chance

Two Door Cinema Club

Phantogram

Purity Ring

And next on the album I need to look at is Vampire Weekend

Have fun !
