need motivation on first backflip attempt

Tomorrow or tuesday me and some of my friends are goin up north(ny) to a big ski park and i want to try a backflip. i need some motivation on conquering the fear of trying that first one. can ne1 tell me the stories of their was try at a backflip? thanks a lot

lol not a single person gave this kid encouragement or advice. my advice: just keep looking man. your body is going to follow what your head/spine are doing. as long as you have at least a 15-20 ft table and commitment you will make it. check out the tricks section for details on how to do it though, there are some good tips

well i tried my first backflip last spring on a shitty east coast terrain park I always feared I would land on my head and well I stopped rotating upside down and landed on my face it hurt but I didnt break my neck and I havnt tried one since. Just make sure your doing it for the right reasons. If you wanna learn backflips you should prolly try them in the backcountry chances are youll fuck your first one up pretty good. and if all else fails drink a few shots of Jack before you go out wear a helmut and huck yourself

Take my advice:

Do a backflip on another medium first!

Try first off a 1m springboard diving board

Then a 3 m diving board.

Then instead of doing it facing backwards, run off forwards and do it.. (eg jump forward, yet backflip).

Get used to the feeling of rotating, etc.. timing things out, get used to intentionally overrotating, underrotating, get complete control.

Then try it on a big pow ski jump. Hell, if you dont have pow, built a big ski jump that lands on a pile of snow (plowed or whatever), and try it on there.

Then go do in the park and rock.

Not worth breaking your neck over.. and oh yeah, wear a helmet.

mmmmm backflips are kewl but they definitely aren't worth losing your pass for if a ski patrol sees you. I see ski patrol pull kids passes for trying to go inverted all the time. But anyways good luck with whatever you end up doing
