Need help with switch takeoffs

I´m an advanced skier, I do every forward spin up to a 10 pretty well with several grabs, but as you can read above I have some problems with my switch spins.

My biggest problem is: pretty often when I take off switch the tip of my right ski catches the kicker (i spin leftside) which makes me eat shit.

My second problem is if i do sw5s I don´t always land straight, I often have a tendence to the left.

but I guess I need to fix the problem with my tips first, cuz right now I´m pretty scared of hitting a kicker switch since I destroyed my thumb yesterday when my tip caught the lip again.

any help would be great!

thx

the exact same thing happens to me all the time! i try just not buttering off the lip or spiinnig early but sometimes ot still gets cacght

what i did was trying to take off with my legs a little bit wider apart like shoulder distance maybe a bit less, that worked out for me and also that made me have a lot more control in the air... also gotta try to pop and then spin cause when you butter there's more chances to have your tips caught

you ride up to the jump then when you get half way up the lip, give it a little carve then pop, clearing your skis out of the way of the lip, then spin. you gota pop then spin

not to be a dick... but be more patient. Your getting caught cause you are probably trying to spin hard and are starting your sping before you get off the ground. Try doing some real slow sw 180's, really try to focus on your take off and coming off clean, then move to sw 360's etc...

This is really common and happens to a lot of people. It is easy to say, and hard to do, but just don't rush the take off. You need to keep your self wound up longer. Like if you're spinning left, don't open your shoulders all the way, and hold your right arm back as long as you can. Then bring everything around at once as/after you pop. Then for bigger spins like 7s and stuff, you really need to make you keep your head looking, or you'll just stop spinning mid cork and fall on your back like I always do.

yeah i have the same problem,  i can do sw 3's without catching my tips but if i try anything bigger there is a good chance id catch and screw myself up.  i try to carve a tiny bit and that usually works, cause even just a tiny little carve puts your skis on edge so if anything they just scrape instead of catching an edge. i think some of the problem is that i spin left but i ski much much better switch looking over my right shoulder, so im not very good at carving while looking over my left shoulder, and i also have alot of trouble seeing behind me when looking left, like i can see like less than half the jump.

What helped me a lot when i was learning was right when you see the paint on the lip of the jump, pop hard off the balls of your feet and then spin.

it happens...

you want to really be firm on your inside leg and dig your inside edge in (eg your right leg if you spin left) just think of that everytime you come into a jump switch and it will work, i know used to have the same problem

if you were to dig your inside edge in on your right ski (spinning sw. left) you would guarantee catching an edge. thats the edge that catches dummy
