So I have read this numerous times but I know I am not understanding what is really happening and the symbolism and etc. So what I am asking for you NS, is to help me understand and explain the plot, characters, setting, key events are and how they relate or conflict. I did not want to use sparknotes or another website because I wanted more than 4 answers and I wanted to hear different positions on the book.
ThanksNoss.
p.s. Any replies get Karma

I mean how it relates to the Russian Revolution and people like Stalin, Karl Marx, Lenin, Trotskey, and such.

and the cow goes moo.

wouldn't it have been great to make farmville, but then make it so you have to buy virtual land with physical money? Then you take all that money and go buy that mountain in the B.C. thats up for sale, and then you let NS skiers move to the base and build a town, all supported by a mythical creation called farmville.

did you read the book yet? try www.bookrags.com , they have pages of stuff and alot of insights its a hell of alot better then sparknotes it might help.

There is no deeper meaning. Unless you mean how the cow wants to plunge his phallus deep into the anal cavity of the pig~

this thread sucks but anywho the deeper meaning of animal farm as i remember it was that greed is prevalent in all society's or some shit like that

Are you fucking retarded? The symbolism is painstakingly obvious and in your face throughout animal farm. It would take someone servery lacking in mental capacity to not recognize that the pigs are police for example.

I read it a couple years ago and had to write a paper on the comparisons from what i can remember its like:

mr Jones = czar nicholas II

old major = karl marx

snowball = leon trotsky

napoleon = joesph stalin

the dogs = secret police

squealer = propganda

the whole animalism concept = communism

theres also a couple more comparisons to minor characters but the only one i can remember is that boxer = the dedicated followers who were tricked by the communist party

we read this book last year in english, and it is one of my favorite books of all time.

characters- snowball=vladimir lenin and karl marx

napoleon=joseph stalin

snowball=leon trotsky

squealer=propaganda in general and how it can sway opinions

boxer=the working class

moses the raven=russian orthodox church

hope this helps

My understanding of the book was basically that the greed of humanity will always prevail over the greater good. The concept of marxism/socialism is in itself quite brilliant but it won't ever work because of greed. Also, is one of the quotes in the book something along the lines of: All people are equal, but some are more equal than others?

actually boxer represents Stakhanov and the stakhanovites. stakhanov was a miner who developed a new drill for mining that was much more efficient and he was a hero throughout the soviet union and a symbol of how successful the soviet union was under stalin

Can anyone read pages 42 to 56 in my Psych text book and tell me what it means, I don't get it at all. Also if anyone wants to I can give them my math project, I'll give you points to make you feel better
