you gotta give the camera a chance to get used to the cold. Same theory as a car that fogs. when you take something from a warm environment to a cold environment rapidly, it will create condensation, which if it gets on the head, completely ruins anything you shoot. Throw the camera in a ziplog freezer bag, and throw it in your backpack, let it sit in the backpack while skiing for like 15 min. Take the bag out and let it sit in the bag but OUTSIDE the backpack for 5. Then take it out completely. This should be gradual enough for condensation to not occur. Best of luck, u might have to play with the times.
and whoever said use a hairdryer, thats a horrible idea. Unless it has a cool setting, the head will screw with things even more. And even on cool, id be hard pressed to ever use that on my xl1s
