I just got a ticket to a concert, but have a varsity tennis match tomorrow, I'm 100% going to the concert its just a matter of finding the best way to lie and I got nothing so far. Being sick doesn't count as an excuse btw.

all suggestions appreciated

THanks NS

All your strings broke.

You are aroused by your opponent and feel that playing him will make you come out of the closet in front of everyone.

You are injured

You saw a dead squirell on the road and are deeply moved. Invite your coach to the funeral.

My coach is a some what family friend, if any deaths or celebrations were happening he would know of them.

This. Why lie about this? It's your choice to play for the team so you also have the choice to not play a game. Tell your coach or whoever that you have other plans that are slightly more important than a tennis match.

tell him that you tried to do E, but some asshole swapped it for viagra and you couldn't play with a raging boner.

Tell him your grandmother gave you the tickets and they're non-refundable, something along those lines is perfect

That's what I do. Haven't been to practice or a match in two weeks now because I don't feel like missing any class and I've been sick. I'll be back on Monday.

Either don't go to school and say you are sick or be like i got to meet a teacher after for extra help.

Also what concert, Wiz + Mac Miller at UNH?

Say you were doing homework before the match and fell asleep. By the time you woke up, the match was over.. It's gonna be really hard to come up with a better more legit excuse, bro

tell him you injured your arm somehow and it prevents you from playing or something. like you slipped on ice or something

What you should really do is either 1, actually care about your position on the team, or 2, tell them straight up potentially forfeitting your position on the team. Nobody likes people who beat around the bush, if you take option 2 you'll probably be fine and nobody will really care.

there's a high chance your excuse will come back to bite you in the ass. from my experience, lying about shit like this only works for a certain amount of time and then you're in trouble both for skipping and for lying about it

Just say you have prior obligations. Im not sure what it really means, but a friend of mine told me to say it once and it worked really well.

say you have prior obligations and if he asks what they are tell him that they are a personal matter that you don't feel comfortable sharing

migraine. best excuse ever. most people have had them and know how much they suck, and how debilitating they are.

to make it even more legit get a note from the school nurse. But seriously, migraines are the go-to excuse because even if they see you later in the day, you just say it finally wore off.

Yeah I actually went with #2 kinda, I told him I couldn't go but didn't give him a reason, and he didn't ask, so I'm all good, ready to rage at a concert.

Ok first off if hes a family friend you will probably get caught cause not only do you have to lie to him but your parents also which make you story options very limited. That being said food poisoning is always a good excuse because its only like a day long and can strike whenever, bring in some sushi for lunch to and make sure your teammates see you eat it.
you could also do something painful like smash your knee off something hard enough to get it to swell up, can't play with a swollen knee and ice will fix it in a day or two. that works with the rents too because theres no reason you can't go to a concert with a swollen knee. nbd
