If your skiing only park, stl.

If your skiing park and allmountain, chronic.

Chronics are much stiffer then stl's.

i havent skiied STL's, but we had them in our shop and i didnt like them. They felt like they were way too soft for basically anything but park and they just didnt seem like they were made that well.

Get the chrons if your more of a all mtn and park guy. But, if you want just park get the stl.

theres no business like snow business.

first of all, Lines break alot, so keep tha tin mind.

Second of all, if you're biggish or heavy-ish, then get the Chronics because they are really stiff. If you are a smaller person that weighs less than get the Stls cause they are soft. It's that simple. Plus 4frnts are pretty durable.

524 is wayyyy to much to spend on the stl man....i think u would be better off with an Armada AR5 if u ski all mtn and park... plus it is 350 on that site.. can't go wrong there.. thats where i got my Armadas .....

beep beep beep! my radar just went off saying that if your 5'10" you should be on 175-180s

i suggest 176 AR5s, or if you want stls or chronics get them in a 177

I'm not short, I'm just vertically challenged.

yeah, at 5'10 something in the ^ range would be fantastic. Because of your weight, i would say a 175 would be perfect.

chronic. they are just as durable as stls.

ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed

why are you looking at 167's? I'm 5'9" and i ride the 177 gold chronics and like them alot but have not rode the STL so can't compair. but i would suggest getting a longer ski if your 5'10".

I vote for 176 ar5's, they're great for park and allmountain.

dude if your 5'10 you need to be on a longer pair of skis than 167 you need at least a 177. skiing on skis that are to short for you is just as gay as snowblading

hot damn! getboards wants that much for o5 skis? are they nuts? ok son, heres the deal. how tall are you? iok, now add about an inch (for ski boots), and convert that to cm. i for example, am exactly 176 cm tall. i ski 180s. head hight is the only way to go. dont think ill go shorter cause its easier- that couldnt be farther from the truth. both of those skis are light, so any additionalweight of goin longer will be very minimal. longer skis are important for park, becuase they are faster (more base, less friction), more stable on landings, and everywhere else, spin smoother, twin tips ski shorter than normal skis, cause you are centermounted, and have less surface area (the turned up tail), and easier to ollie/butter im telling you this, cause this is a very common misconception with people just getting into the sport.

ok, so, now, onto those skis. STLs are a really fun ski, but thy are a jib ski, and thats about it. they ski switch beautifully, and are really fun. they arnt as solid on jumps due to thier soft flex, but they are stiffer underfoot than at the tips, so they feel more solid while your skiing them then when you flex them. but they are great skis, the PTEX sidewalls are a great plus (you probably wont notice, but they are alot lighter than ABS). and pricewise on those, snag a new pair off ebay, and dont pay more than 200.

Chronics are solid. tankaskier, your dead wrong. lines USED to break alot, but theyve gotten thier shit together, and theey are some of the burliest skis made. LINE cores are WAY Strong, and will hold thier profile for a LONG ltime (the first gen. STLS loose thier camber quickly). but the line is much stiffer, and is a much better ski for all mountain, and bigger jumps. it still kills rails.

so, the STL is a better jib ski, but its pretty specific to that use. the Chrinic is a great all around ski, and will hold up the the abuse someone learning will throw at it.

some other great choices: k2 public enemies, armada ar5s, line mike nicks, Rossi Scratches. and oh yeah, dont worry about spending a little more money on a quality setup, cause nothing sucks more than progressing beyond the limits of your ski, and by the end of the year you havee to buy a whole new setup to replace the skis that are too crappy for you. and for bindings, the only way to go is LOOK p12s, or P10s if your smaller. not the new PX bindings, the older ones. these can be found on ebay or on clearnce in shops for 120-180 dollars. any more Questions, feel free to ask

^Spend enough time on that one, chief? Abbreviated version:

-Chronics are all around skis,

-STLs are park specific skis,

-Both are a bit too short for you,

-Both are way too expensive.

Note: most of these people are giving you bad advice based on your height, weight is more important in determining ski length. 170-175 is probably about right.

yeah, but with the STL being as soft as it is, the longer ski would definatly be better. im the same hight, but 170, and 177s are noodles. so yeah, with the chrons go for the 177 (lines run short)

on the STL, either 177 or 183would be fine. you will have no problems skiing them.

he's right. Weight is more important. I ski 179 Fujis and I learned rightside 5s on them very quickly, and they're about 5" above my head. So length is only an issue if you don't have very much control over your skis. But if you have been skiing for years and years then length is no issue at all. Trust me.
