Need help choosing skies

Hi there, I have decided to pick up a pair of twintips. I have skied for awhile, raced for the past 4 years and have always loved getting big air, doing tricks and much more but have never had anything other then some racing skies. I am a pretty strong skier and would like to get into park skiing but still be able to ride everything on the mountain. So i guess im looking for an all mountain/park ski. i have no idea what to buy, so far i have looked at the 4frnt MSP and STL.

I currently have a pair of rossignol 9s 165 and rossignol 9x 185. I am 6'1 and weigh 160. I'm not really sure about what size i would need for my skis because i have a short pair for slalom and a long pair for GS, so I'm sort of unsure where i would be for a twin tip ski.

Your help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

i think your best bet with an all around twin tip/ mt ski would either be a line chronic which is durable as hell and cheaper than most or the new k2 extreme.

srry couldn't resist.

on a more serious note, if you're just starting park and what not, I dont think you should go all out for your first twintips and buy really expensive skis, you should maybe start out with something less expensive like a fujative or line anthems/invaders and see if you like them?

yeah but thats reffering to a powder ski, i live in mi so i have no idea what powder skis are. on the other hand i know and have ridden quite a few all mt skis

i wouldent go line they delam soooooo easy....i would go with a rossignal for an all mtn/jump ski..... they are also nice on rails just a little stiff

Ive never had a problem with my lines... lucky me i guess. anyway if your a strong skier anyway im sure you wouldent have a problem with a stiffer ski. Id go to your local ski shop and check out all the all mt skis and flex them and what not

I admit that Line Delaminate, but I have had my all mountain lines for 5 years, and at the end of this years season they just started to delam.

I'd go with Line Chronics.

And the 07-08 08-09 chronics are only a graphical difference so if you like last years hunter orange graphic it would save some $$

rossys got good ones armadas good the ARVs or the AR6s are good skis or the JP vs Juliens or try something from K2 not sure what there all mountain ski is this year

id say ar6s depending on where u ski. my mountain is smaller not much pow. and my ar6s shred all over. so fun. maybe like a 176 for u or 181s. i have the 181s and they rock in the park, and all over.

181 Surface Watch Lifes would be a good ski for you. They ski pretty similarly to STLs, and they're only $350. And I broke my STLs after three months.  Since you're a racer, I would stay away from park skis that are really soft, like invaders, if you still want to charge.

honestly there isnt an all mountain park ski. park skis are made stiff through the center and soft in the tip and tail for the most part. check out the prophet 90s or something like that. bluehouse works out well for me, but if im not riding park at all on a day then im on my steezes.

All these kids forgot the Fischer Addict. I would put you at the 181 length due to your height and the fact that you race and thus should know how to drive a decent sized ski around (like your 185 gs skis).

Bomber construction, like their race skis.

Stiffer than a lot of the park skis on the market, if you want really stiff (for a park ski) you can go with the Addict Pros.

Here's a review that I made of mine:

177 volkl wall

181/176 ar6

179 public enemies

181 scratch ghto

those are just some off the top of my head

well blue skies are generally more pleasant, but you can never complain when skies are overcast and there is snow coming down. lol couldn't resist.

well since you're used to stiff race skis, u should get something stiff like the volkl wall or rossi scratch ghettos. wait and get next years walls though cause they'll last a lot longer than this years, which fall apart a lot. if you want something a little softer than those two, try the AR6 or pipe cleaner.

some ideas... ar6... stl...extremes would be a good decision...s4 maybe ... and the salomon suspects are sweeeeeet

you want to pick a sky on a clear day

remember, cumulus, towering cumulus and lenticular clouds could mean turbulance so watch out for that

well since no one has really said anything about the ski's he has looked at i guess i will touch on the subject.

since you are a racer, i will assume you like a stiff ski that can handle high speeds well.

looking at the 4frnt MSP is good choice due to its stiffness for handling all mountain well, and its width which is slightly wider than your average park ski, which makes it more versatile. This ski can handle rails just fine and when i rode some they excelled in jumping due to its stiffness makeing it very stable on landings. for size i would say either teh 181 or 187 depending on how big you like your skis.

for a skier like you i think the MSP would be an excellent choice.

the stl is very similar just a bit softer and narrower, making it more of a park ski and less of an all mountain ski.

armada alpha 1s.. they are rockered so u can hit up pow but mainly for park . or armada halos but the halos r flexier
