Hey, ineed your help.

i really want to buy my own pair of skis because ive been renting ever since i started when i was 8. I have no clue what size to get or what brand. for the last two years, i rented salomon teneighties that were 145 but thats way too small.

I am 5'5" and weigh 120, if anyone could give me some ideas, that would be awesome.

thanks,

~alex~

Where do you live and what do you like to ski? at your size the salomon 1080 foils or thrusters would be sweet for you because their foam core makes them super light. Unless you need a fatter ski I'd probably say thruster. K2s are also a pretty good value, fujatives if you like the park, or silencer if you want a more versatile ski. those are I think $330 and $300 and the thruster is in the same ballpark.

well i lied i guess the thrusters are like $450, but you could prolly use the 1080 flyers too which are cheaper. the scratch sprayer fs is also pretty similar

i live in new jersey, so basically i ski on crap, groomed crap. i doo make trips to new york and vermont.

yeah, money is another thing, i don't think i can spend 500 bucks on skis.

do you know of any good websites to get stuff, of should i just google it?

i try to ski the park more than naything, but i do like the ocasional cruise down a normal slope; anything from green to double black.

Check www.jibij.com seriously you can't go wrong with their service. Fast shipping. super nice. free stickers with your order.

If I were you and you just ski a lot of crap.. I wouldn't get too fat of a ski. Look into Line invaders or Chronics. k2 fujatives, silencers, or public enemys. 9thward butterlicious, MIP, or firstblood. Maybe even a scott p3.

All of which should be below $500. Some WELL below.

If you have anymore questions call them and ask for Josh, he'll steer you in the right direction.

also if you don't have a lot of money to spend look for deals on last years equipment. You can save mad money that way.

i have another question, what would i not be able to do on a center mount ski that i would be able to do on a regular monut?

What is the real difference, because i cant explain it to my dad.

The center mount makes spins, riding switch, and some other tricks easier, the center mount balances you in the middle of the ski. Like I said, spins and switch riding. A traditional mount allows you to ski more aggressively, carve and turn with more power. However spins are harder becasue your not balaced between your tips and switch is harder becasue you have less ski behind you.

nah dude i think go with a 165 or 169 cause if you dont totally beat the shit out of them the first year you can use them for 2 years.

yeah but if you ski pow it's good to be back from center a little bit. It keeps your tips up out of the pow so you don't sink. If you're not skiing pow go center

I think for his size the chronic would be too stiff and probably the PE too although I've only skied the earlier style PEs. Invaders or fujatives would both be a good ski and sweet values. You can definately get a good two seasons out of fujatives unless you get unlucky and clobber them on something, invaders have yet to prove themselves but I have high hopes.

169 fujatives cheap and pretty good. good size too, but mount them as forward as possible cuz if u let the store mount them where they are ment to be mounted, its like 100000000 million inches back from the center. that was a slight exageration. but get those.

being 120 lbs I'm pretty sure he'll love foam cores because they will be super light and poppy and plenty stiff for him. By the time you get too heavy for them you'll be too tall and they'll be falling apart anyway regardless of what ski you get.
