Need help buying a camcorder

dude, go on ebay and u can get a panasonic pv-gs120 or 150 for between 300-400. hella sick for tthe price.

Yeah, the GS series is pretty rad. eBay is going to be a must if you want a decent cam for that price. I would recommend against any of those because they have a significant lack of manual controls (white balance, apeture & shutter adjustment, etc.). If you don't really care about any of those though, Canons generally give off better auto colors than any other cams I have seen (Sony cams tend to give off a little bit of a reddish tint, while Canon tends to have nice neutral yet bright colors). Look around for a Canon Optura 10/20, it is far superior than the more recent models and has very good manual controls for its price range. It is a bit old though, so if that makes you uncomfortable, I would recommend one of the higher level Canon ZRs because they are not yet using the terrible touch screen system currently employed by Sony.

In the end, the choice is yours. Hope this helps.

alright, i've narrowed it down to 2 camcorders, i obviosly don't know much about camcorders so i could definetly use some help picking:

panasonic pv-gs120

Canon Camcorder (ZR700)

what are the strengths and weaknesses of these two, which is better, the Panasonic seems more expensive, thanks

i have the zr 600. its pretty solid for a first camera. i havent used it in the winter at all but i have filmed skating and stuff. the diffrences between the 600 and 700 are that the 700 has a LED light and other small things
