What is the best camera for shooting ski videos, but also the cheapest. I am on a budget, my absolute max is 600, lower than that would be nice, also used cameras are fine too. and dont say gopro. +k
Seeing as you have tripods already, if they're good ones, and you're planning on getting a steadycam already you've got some gear, so I'd recommend either what lupton said(ONLY IF YOU WANT TO TAKE PHOTOS AS WELL or NEED the low light capabilities over some of the camcorders).
If you're just filming get a good camcorder no question.
I do want to take photos, but I will be using it for filming like 90% of the time, and I dont really care about photos. What are some good camcorders for ski-filming? and maybe name some more DSLR's also. Thanks!!!
I may get some crap for this, but a d3200. Nikon really pushed the entry level dslr standard. I think it's like 500 and it comes with an 18-55 3.5-5.6 kit which is pretty bad, but still usable.
Well, the Canon EOS 600D is an awesome camera. Works really well for filming skiing with the fold out screen. It goes for about 550$ on Amazon. Get the Opteka X-Grip, and you're set! (The Opteka X-Grip is on sale on opteka.com for 22.95!!)
Thats about 572.95$ wich is 28.05$ saved from your budget.
If you are only taking videos and only plan to spend $600 than a camcorder like the tm700 would be a lot better than a dslr with a kit lens (and shitty x grip thing)
handheld without the x-grip. I used mine once skiing and it was useless. Unless you want to get really low angel shots I really don't see the point of adding a grip on top of your camera. And don't get a dslr unless you want to use allot more money on your setup in the feature. Just get a camcorder and save up some money for a decent tripod, glidecam 1000 (you probably don't need the 2000 if you go for a camcorder instead of a dslr), batteries and maybe a mic.
