ok so i live in Spokane, WA and its been snowing non stop since yesterday and I really want to, no, really HAVE to go skiing tommorow for half day at least.

Any tips on convincing the parental units so let me go? im sure this has happened to you guys and I cant even focus doing homework tonight because its snowing so hard. I need to stop this opression of my parent and teachers and ski. Thanks

i never thought i would hear this out of my mouth, but...

'back when i was in highschool,' i would just tell my parents i was skiing afterwards (east coast night skiing whaaaat), so i would load up all of my shit, and just go to the mountain in the morning instead of school. generally, talking to them about skipping school doesn't work, and it's definately not as much fun.

tell them your grades are good and your not doing anything the next day. oh and it also helps if you tell them about some friends that they know who are goin skiing. it always helps me.

bullshit them and tell them that you read ahead and whatever. emphasize what a good kid you are and how you never do anything like this blah blah blah, and say if they let you go then you'll stay after or do whatever you gotta do to catch up(i'm not saying you will) - then (assuming they let you go) come home and be appreciative, telling them what a good day it was.

days like this are every so often but boring days at school happen 5 times a week!

good stuff. The only downer is that i got back from an awesome ski trip jut two days ago, and then went back to school yetserday from break. Plus, I dont have my license so that sucks. Ill keep buggin em tho. wish me luck!

just go. they will understand if they are skiers

my dad always tells me stories about skipping school to surf on good swells. and then he got kicked off of the football team.

tell em its only one day and u promise u'll do the make up work and all that and ur not rly doing much in class that day im sure they'll let ya go unless theyre rly strict

i donno should i? are they getting hit pretty good? yea my parents are pretty strict about school. who knows tho...

i usually use the fake sick. my mom comes in to wake me up and im all, i cant go to school today, im sick. she then leaves for work and i leave for the mountain.

Mine usually just let me go, I guess Im very fortunate. You should just aproach your mom with respect and then say look here Mother dearest, tomorrow there is a lot of powder. I can't work efficiently with this snow so I neeed to go skiing. Then I WILL focus if you let me go... "Oh sure sweatheart, why didn't you just say so in the first place, I think Ill buy you a pair of hellbents for the day as well now go have some fun".

my dad has set a two powder day a semester rule since I was in 9th grade, push for a similar rule.

FOr the record that would never happen for me, I usually just skip school if I got a pair of skis for it I would have a boner for the whole day.

That's F'n awesome! I'm only 33 but I have a 16 year old step daughter, 12 year old step daughter and two little boys. A two powder day per semester rule is more than fair, as long as grades and attitude are good. I would do that. The girls consider me as their dad and from a parent's perspective, you get more out of parents by towing the line in school and having a good tude than trying to TELL us what to do. I'd be like, "you can TELL me what to do from your room"

We don't like to have to bust you guys, when the girls are good we allow them a day off here or there, we call them "mental health days"... just as long as they're not giving the tude. Just behave and you're sure to be rewarded.

Tell them that you have no homework due and your teachers are letting you have a slack day

seeing as its the first week back.

Or tell them that you're watching a movie in one class, and drawing diagrams, and you can do that in your own time.

Thats what I said and I'm going up friday

yeah man they have to understand... my parents even tell me sometimes that i have to gos kiing if its snowing like crazy and not go to the university next day

How many epic powder days do we have in CT, or even VT, for that matter...mmm hmm, thats what i thought. I'm sure if we lived in SLC or something they'd be like "yo foo, get off your fat ass and get to alta before i punish you." well, maybe not like that

I never skipped school to go skiing, but there is powder about once a year if taht where I went to high school and the only hill is 250 vertical feet with like 6 features in the terrain park, so i really am not that in tune with your sitution. the hill had night skiing, so I could always just go after school anyway. I am now in my first year of university near Marble Mountain, newfoundland, where it snows good every 1 or 2 weeks. and my schedule is set up so I have no classes in the middle of the day, so I can ski every day for a few hours anyway. As long as you get decent marks your parents shouldn't be too harsh, and you can just tell them something about trying to lead a balanced lifestyle and you can't focus in school anyway because you ahve too much energy.

sorry for 2 posts, but also if your parents are skiers tehy will probly understand better. My parents never skied, so they would be like what????!!!!!!!!

worddd my parents usually let me if its a good bit of snow. if my mom says no, my dad comes in and tells me to skip school, and he writes me an excuse the next day and my mom never finds out. but he used to basically sleep on couches and tables every weekend to ski, so he understands.
