Less than 25 lines, I kind of have to memorize it, and it needs to be performed for the class, not like acted out but just like read with passion and tone.

Any suggestions?

"the red wheelbarrow" by william carlos williams-

so much depends

upon

a red wheel

barrow

glazed with rain

water

beside the white

chickens.

(line spaces by original author)

or

"trees" by joyce kilmer-

1 I think that I shall never see

2 A poem as lovely as a tree.

3 A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

4 Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

5 A tree that looks at God all day,

6 And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

7 A tree that may in Summer wear

8 A nest of robins in her hair;

9 Upon whose bosom snow has lain;

10 Who intimately lives with rain.

11 Poems are made by fools like me,

12 But only God can make a tree.

The Eagle, Alfred Lord Tennyson.

He clasps the crag with crooked hands,

close to the sun in lonely lands,

ringed with the azure world he stands,

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls,

he watches from his mountain walls

and like a thunderbolt he falls.

STOP USING NS TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK
go to the library. pick up a couple books of poems and find one.
suggestions: chuck rybak's tongue and groove or harryette mullen's sleeping with the dictionary. there's some amazing poems in both of those books.
if you need help with interpretations or finding syntax, structure, rhyme scheme, etc. feel free to pm me
i'm all for helping out folks but don't just come on here and say this is what i need, do it for me.

I did this one because my brother was practicing it a week or so before. Its an excerpt from a HUGE poem, but my teacher was cool with it. It has a good rhythm too it so its not bad to remember.

Its entitled "Ballad of Reading Gaol" by Oscar Wilde.

These were the lines I used:

The man in red who reads the Law

Gave him three weeks of life,

Three little weeks in which to heal

His soul of his soul's strife,

And cleanse from every blot of blood

The hand that held the knife.

And with tears of blood he cleansed the hand,

The hand that held the steel:

For only blood can wipe out blood,

And only tears can heal:

And the crimson stain that was of Cain

Became Christ's snow-white seal.

Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.

His house is in the village though;

He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer

To stop without a farmhouse near

Between the woods and frozen lake

The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake

To ask if there is some mistake.

The only other sound's the sweep

Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep

haha yea like some biggie or big l...just find a verse without too much profanity and say the poems by christopher wallace instead of biggie

I thought about doing this for mine too, not that hard at all to get away with. I say go for it

Some ideas so far...

J.Ivy:

We are all here for a reason on a particular path

You don't need a curriculum to know that you are part of the math

Cats think I'm delirious, but I'm so damn serious

That's why I expose my soul to the globe, the world

I'm trying to make it better for these little boys and girls

I'm not just another individual, my spirit is a part of this

That's why I get spiritual, but I get my hymns from Him

So it's not me, it's He that's lyrical

I'm not a miracle, I'm a heaven-sent instrument

My rhythmatic regimen navigates melodic notes for your soul and your mental

That's why I'm instrumental

Vibrations is what I'm into

Yeah, I need my loot by rent day

But that is not what gives me the heart of Kunte Kinte

I'm tryina give us "us free" like Cinque

I can't stop, that's why I'm hot

Determination, dedication, motivation

I'm talking to you, my many inspirations

When I say I can't, let you or self down

If I were of the highest cliff, on the highest riff

And you slipped off the side and clinched on to your life in my grip

I would never, ever let you down

Tupac:

Can You See the Pride In the Panther

As he grows in splendor and grace

Topling obstacles placed in the way,

of the progression of his race.

Can You See the Pride In the Panther

as she nurtures her young all alone

The seed must grow regardless

of the fact that it is planted in stone.

Can You See the Pride In the Panthers

as they unify as one.

The flower blooms with brilliance,

and outshines the rays of the sun.

Tupac:

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?

Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet.

Funny it seems, but by keeping it's dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air.

Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared.

'Thug' By Stayve Thomas

It's white-T, Nikes, when I hit the club

They say I can't get in cause I'm dressed like a thug

Fuck the dress code, we bout a hundred deep

And they goin let it seen, or get they ass beat

Boss Hogg Outlaws roll like the mob

Errbody paid cause we stays on our job

Drop in G-T a blessing from the Lord

So haters don't be mad that we blame it on God

I'm coming out hard, them other boys soft

So I'm a hold it down for that H and the Nawf

Brand new jewelry look what I brought

Still running from the feds, I ain't never getting caught

A slightly more contemporary piece, it is a fascinating allegory for the destruction of the earth's natural resources by an unrelenting mankind.
