Need a logo, the on that makes the best one gets two tall tees for free.

I'm in the process of starting my own outerwear company and have gone to school for business. Some of what you're saying is true. I realize exchange rates drastically change prices, and Norway may have an expensive economy, but $35 is a lot for most of the world. You are forgetting that they said it was for a School Project, and by no means a professional business. And just because a company is "local" doesn't mean they aren't producing their products in another country. It means their main headquarters are based in that town. A home based business would be one in which all the employees and partners are in the same general area, and they have no outside contracts.

But that is completely off subject, because they are asking for a logo, not for you to bitch at people for thinking a $35 tall tee is overpriced. I appreciate that you're trying to stick up for these guys, buy you can't argue about something that's an opinion.

Uhhh... the point of this thread was him asking someone else to do the designs for him. Point me in the direction of said link with said designs. If these kids are willing to sell their apparel for 35$ a pop, which I agree isn't terrible for CUSTOM apparel, i.e. not an American Apparel shirt with something screened on, then they sure as fuck better get the pricing right for design work.

Let me do some 'splainin. Designers charge anywhere from $30/hr - $100+/hr depending on experience for their services. Considering the market your going for, I'd say you'd want something in the $45/hr range. Good, modern, clean work aimed at kids in our demo. Now lets look at the time it actually takes to make a logo or brand if your really serious about it.

Concept/Brainstorming: 1-2 hours

Thumbnails/Initial Sketches: 1-2 hours

*Custom Typography: 2 hours

Proofs/Corrections: 1-2 hours

Polishing/Final Product: 1-3 hours

That ends up being close to $200 on the low end and almost $450 high end, which in reality is not too shabby. Then go ahead and throw on the price we have to pay to keep our computers and software up to date and you'll begin to understand what the worth of said logo is.

Also I understand this is for a school project. If you don't want to pay for quality work, do what I said before. Get a pencil and paper and do it yourself.

P.s. Get learned, you don't do logo design in Photoshop.

WHO_DAT you are right. But in norway 35 bucks is cheap for a tee. Also you cant buy tall tees anywhere, only online from unknown gangsta shops. Therefor we have a good market, And for some of you that actually know more about the norweagin prices. http://www.session.no/display.aspx?menuid=8 1 dollar is about 6.3 KR. As you can see the tees cost 350-399. wich is TWICE as much as our tee. (200 KR) And 200 KR is maby alot for you americans to by in america (35 bucks) but it is not in norway wich is the only place were selling them.

Yeah, i know the price of a designer. We got a guy at the media line at school (not shure what you call it) wich will design it. im looking for sketching of ideas. for some it is fun, and they get two tees. i fully understand that many wouldent do that, but i think that someone might think of it as a great way to get two tees. it is an offer, im not claiming that people should do it.

either way, the point came up and i was just saying that just because you can buy a shirt for ten dollars, doesn't mean everyone's selling them, and that they are well justified for their price point. and i think that's potentially well relevant to their project. it pisses me off that people know nothing about market research and come around shit talking nonsense. thanks for trying to clarify production, but i already have these infos.

Word, that makes a bit more sense. I still don't see why you don't do it yourself though. Whats the point of starting a company based off someone elses ideas?

It pisses me off that people know nothing about Design work and come around asking for free shit.

Seriously theres been like 5 threads this week like this.

There much more than the design of the logo. im more interrested in having a cool tee, and learn as much as i can about how to sell, market it and stuff like that.

You're right, it is much more than the logo. What you need is a brand, which is crucial to marketing. Im not hatin on you at all, fyi. Props for doing your own thing, I love custom apparel. It seems like you know what you want, so sit down and brainstorm. A brand is more than a catchy name and a logo. You need to make some sort of connection or appeal to your target demo. and build off that.

Thanks! Actully this is our second year. so we have done alot of allready. this year we just wanted a new logo to start with, and make some more interresting tees. www.solong.tk here you cam see last years. AND, we have made alot of logos, i can post them out in a few minuttes. just havent found the right one yet, wich is wy im asking for ideas.

Newschoolers.com, not so much. They do plenty to give back to the community we are all a part of. I know what you're getting at though. When companies hold "Design Contests" as a cop-out for paying for a real designer, thats bunk. However if its something where I would want my work to be seen on X company's 2010 Fall Line, I would jump all over it.

Well allow me to bite my tongue... I didn't even notice your link in the first post, damn thing needs to be clicky!
