the mountians in virginia are actually pretty decent. it's too bad they don't get more snow, because some of them would be chill to ski. like around skyLine drive, those mountians are probably as tall as some of the mtns. in NH. I didn't expect that when I went down there

yeah, the are not as tall but they are taller, Mitchell is the tallest on the east coast and Rodgers isn't too short either. We have the mountains, but not the snow.

I ski in NC as much as I can. The mexicans at sugar have no clue what they are doing. And I fucking hate that sugar lets snowlerbladers in but not skiers.

Snowshoe gets 180 inches on average, they get 200 inches usually. NC got 100 inches this year.

Does anyone ski hawksnest? The park wasn't too bad for NC, but nothing compared to App's. Hawksnest is a good cheap mountain. Beech sucks and is flat. Sugar is expensive. Wolf Laurel ain't that bad for th drive from Atlanta. They had a whole buch of cliffs made from snowmaking when I was there.

 
i ski at hawksnest like 2 times a year. they have some good rails but they set them up so shitty it sucks after 1 day. Hawksnest is decent if they have snow. Beech and sugar suck. go to appalachian. We defenitely do not get 100inches of snow a year. This year we got maybe 60 and it was a pretty good year.

Beech got 100 inches. Go to SkiNC.com they have all those statistics. Sugar's good for the stuff at the top, but other than that, it sucks. the only good thing about App is the park and the snow.

Snowshoe is the best one down here, and it actually can turn out some good skiing from time to time, but nothing to call home about.

yeah, im gonna write a letter to sugar to let us in the park. They even let snowlerbladers in...fuckers. $53 on a saturday is a little expensive. I'd rather go to Snowbird for $40.

for what we have, our skiers arent that bad. theres about 8 of us that can actaully pull some stuff. we got some backflippers, some lincolners, and some spinners... considering our only jump is a 8 ft drop off, i would say thats not to shabby

im sorry i shouldnt be a jerk. i hate gatlinburg though...

anyone that ever skis in north carolina - dont go to sugar or beech ever!! way too expensive. I have tried multiple times to get into sugar's park and the owners just dont listen. dont waste your time

I like to go skiing on something stteper than what App has to offer, so I go to sugar every once in awhile. Some of the stuff is decent especially if it's shiny blue ice, which makes it all the more fun.

Where is the 8 foot drop at Ober? I might go there for a day this year cause it's the only major resort I haven't been to.

 
its the bottleneck wall. if you come from bear and take the bottleneck to cub take a left off the drop off onto lower bear. its anywhere from 4-10 ft, depending on where you drop

 
haha ober is not really a major resort. a major resort is like whistler or something. there is not much in the way of steeps at sugar anyway. that double black was ok but its not really that steep anyway

i dont think any resort in the south has one good trail, and if its anywhere decent, its about.5 a mile, tops. snowshoe isnt that bad, it has moderate riding, but i thinkn the parks are actually pretty nice. i mean most of the rails are flat rails and are under 15 ft, so not much there, but at least they got stairzilla rail, c-rail, rainbows, and a couple of other nice ones. plus they got some 40ft jumps, which is about the max for me to spin off of, so i cant complain
