Don’t get it twisted, he’s my best player in the league right now. But in terms of what I think will happen factoring in voters liking to crown someone new, Joel.
At the moment my gut says Suns - Celtics Finals but I could just as easily see the Bucks coming out of the East. I feel like everyone in the West has glaring flaws or concerns that whoever comes out will be up against it with their eastern opponent.
With all the Kings talk, I think they’re fun but in terms of their run in the playoffs I worry about experience. Some teams move ahead of schedule as playoff rookies, but usually not to a Final unless they are especially stacked. (Think 2012 Thunder) Which is nothing to sneeze at. This Kings team has legitimately climbed out of the hell they were in which is great. A bit reminiscent to me of the 60 win Hawks team from a few years back. Well oiled machine of an offense that hums during the regular season, but could sputter in the playoffs with physical, more experienced opponents (Warriors). And leaking like a sieve on defense is a big concern any playoff team. I think it’s great to get playoff experience regardless, especially against the defending champs. Exactly the kind of culture building experiences teams need to turn things around.
I dont think someone deserves an MVP just because it should be someone new. Giannis has had a crazy season 31 ppg, 11.8 RB, and over 50% from the field and he has done it without Khris Middleton for a lot of the season. Its honestly crazy how close the race has been though I wouldn't be suprised if Joel wins it.
