NBA owner is a rampant racist, how should the players respond?

I say we enslave all the white people for 400 years. Make them work for me for food. Kill a few now and then, maybe cut off the hands and feet of those that try to run from me. Maybe get a few pregnant and sell the kids real cheap just so they know how little power they have.

But NS, that's just my vision of a just world, how do you think the sports world (and nation) should respond to Donald Sterling's remarks?

Basketball without black people is like pancakes minus the pancakes: it doesn't really exist, despite the syrupy illusion that it does.

Make him resign or something. Honesty why do we need another media freak out over this. He is a racist, an obvious skid mark in society, and everyone should forget about his ignorant ass instead of CNN/MSNBC/FOX plastering his face all over. stop giving this dude the attention he wants

Him and his entire extended family needs to be publicly skinned alive on national television. Harshly punishing people is the best way to make them think the same things as me.

You're retarded. You know that there have been plenty of white slaves throughout history. Know anyone who is irish? Yeah, you should probably start paying some reparations. Know any White Moroccans? yep. Have you ever even heard of the term Saqaliba? Europeans captured and sold into slavery by Arabic slave traders during peace and war, starting in the 8th century.

So before you go all "hurr durr da white man is the root of all evil" get an education and quit bitching about fairness and a just world, because you have literally no idea about the history of slavery other than the white man is the devil propaganda you learned in diversity class.

First, dude you're a moron. Read a book.

Second, who the fuck cares what some random rich dudes said about basketball players. Seriously, who the fuck cares. He can be as racist as he wants, it doesn't make a difference.

This, he's been known as a racist for a really long time so I don't see what the big deal. Clearly there's nothing better out there to cover according to the news media.

Your right and I think we should put all non-jews in concentration camps and kill off an equal proportion to the holocaust

I dont agree with this. I dont condone racism in any way, so for a person with a high position like him I'd say his views expressed are problematic. A lot of the NBA players are black. A lot of the people enjoying basketball are black, i.e. the people who actually make him as wealthy and powerful as he is are the ones he is hating on? Thats just absurd.

Can someone fill me in/link me what this dude has been saying, I havent Heard anything about this.

HAHA BITCH IM A MIX OF IRISH, BLACK, NATIVE, FRENCH, AND GERMAN.

u owe me bitch. You owe me your soul

ps, rule number 1 with white people is don't make them feel awkward about they're ancestors or the fact that they hold a more favorable position in our society,

if too many people started talking about it something might change.

people are racist. There's nothing we can do about it except just ignore their ignorance. Only time to really worry is if a certain group of people are committing mass genocide.

Well they can't really "force" him out. The most they could do is get him to sell his team, but that's kind of a win for Sterling since he bought the team for a little more than 12 mil and could net up to 600 million now if he sold.

Once again, who cares. Oh, really? NBA players and fans are mostly black? And he said mean things about them? Man, we'd better fill out a hurt feelings form immediately before LITERALLY NOTHING HAPPENS.

Second, you don't even know what this thread is about as made plainly obvious by your last sentence. You want to be upset by it for no reason whatsoever, even if you are ignorant as humanly possible in relation to the subject in question.

The bucks just sold for $550 million. If sterling sold a competitive LA team with superstars like Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, in a gigantic market, he would get a lot more than $612 million.

As for him, he is an idiot but these people were brought up in a time where that was that status quo. I hope he is forced to sell the team but I don't see the NBA doing that.

As for what he said, if you haven't found out - he was recorded by a girlfriend (who is being sued by his wife) as saying that she can fuck black dudes, she can be friends with them, but she can not advertise it by bringing them to Clipper games. She brought Magic Johnson to a game. I also heard recordings saying that he is jewish, but there are black Jewish people and there are white Jewish people, and that the black Jewish people are 150% below the white Jewish people like himself. Apparently there is a lot more recordings that haven't been released.

The president of the United States of America is black. You fucking idiot. The only person advocating any sort of prejudice against a certain race in this thread is you.

The man is free to say what he wants, that is for sure.

I however, would take issue with working for a man who wouldn't want my brother to be seen in his stadium, or was not good enough to live in his apt.

Fuck that shit. I'd applaud any of the players who refused to play for him. Just go on the court and pass the ball to the other team. Same for the coach.

I don't understand why people were so surpised when the rich white dude who "Owned" a team comprised of mainly black dudes turned out to be a racist.

uhmmm what exactly makes you think this makes me upset? Sure, shit like racism is something I dont like (who does? Well this dude obviously), but just because I dont agree with what you posted doesnt mean Im sitting here crying infront of my computer screen, planning a sit in at his office.

I googled quickly "NBA racism" and only found that this Sterling dude had said SOMETHING offensive, but nothing about what it was. I dont live in America and I'm not a basketball fan, so I havent heard any of this.

However, the whole "who cares its not as if we can do anything about it, let him be" mentality pisses me off. Sure there are racists out there, but just because they exist doesnt mean what they think is right. At least not according to me. There are people out there who think its ok to burn American flags, molest children and kill homosexuals, but just because they are alive and kickin it doesnt mean their views are legit.

The "his views are not my problem" thing is so fucked. Someone else here posted something like "no need to worry until mass genocide". Well, "where they have burned books, they will end in burning human beings. "

I just think its dangerous to normalize racism. Thats sort of whats going on where I live right now (we have a right wing party stemming from Nazis in our government).

So I was listening to Fox Sports North radio today at work and they were talking about the best ways to get back at Sterling. The funniest one was have Flava Flav come and do all the announcing and sit right next to Sterling and then have like the first ten rows up from the court right behind Sterling's seat be all black people.

Yeeeaaahh booiiii

Well if we're bringing in people from outside this thread, I give you Malcom X:

"I am for violence if non-violence means we continue postponing a solution to the American black man's problem just to avoid violence."

The way i see it is, this dude was brought up in a different time and culture, lots of people were. He is just trying to hold onto everything he knows to be true in a world that no longer shares his views, he's afraid of change and there is no changing him at this point in his life. He is like the grandma that I'm sure everyone had/has who sits around the dinner table spouting off bigotry and you just sit there and laugh because you know they are seeing the world in a completely different light.

Being that the players make 1,000,000's a year they should do nothing, and isn't his girlfriend black? Also loved how she didn't leave him fucking gold digger.

The American black men in question are multimillionaires who didn't skip a game in order to send a real message. They flipped their jerseys inside out and wore black socks and armbands. If there really needed to be some kind of grand statement over this don't you think it should've started with the Clippers?

THis is what I was thinking. If it really bothered them and they really wanted to send a message, either throw the game or don't even play.... turning your warm ups inside out doesn't do anything

this is a man fighting with his wife. There are also probably other things that haven't been released.

Sometimes when people are angry and fighting in a relationship they say mean and hurtful things. Also if that is the guys wife she should be shamed for publicly humiliating him like that. Sure he was wrong and he shouldn't have said them. Maybe she has been cheating on him? Maybe a wife in his past has cheated on him? People don't usually have hate towards something without a reason.

also on a lighter note.

here is some comedy sketches that are funny and might lighten the mood in here.

Yeah this is why social media is a double-edged sword. How many crusty old racist fucking bastards are still rampant? They only have influence if we give them the power, otherwise they'll just die out and take their archaic bullshit with them.

Should the Clippers throw the playoffs because of this? No. Guaranteed EVERY team in the NBA, NFL, MLB, and every Fortune 500 company etc. has one or two old silverback inbred assholes on the board in some capacity. There's just definitely a time and place to fight a fight, and is this even worth the exertion? What is going to be accomplished here? He's a millionaire and you can't go to jail for being racist because, fortunately, we're all protected by the First Amendment.

I'm a white person so according to Byron my opinion doesn't count, but if Sterling's own fucking team doesn't think so then maybe everybody should take the hint and realize that this one was one comment by one geriatric fuck who's gonna be dead here pretty soon. Yes, it sucks that racism exists. But refusing to play or having some weak ass temper tantrum on Twitter isn't gonna do shit.

Ok regardless of your mistake of being born white, the other owners can actually kick him out of being an owner. Its never happened, but pressure from media and society can help force that change. Because he's not just the owner of the Clipper's, hes a 1/30th owner of the NBA, and he just made it less valuable.

I didn't suggest you were uncontrollably emotional or something. Upset, perturbed, bothered, whatever you want. It means the same things and yes you obviously are.

You are putting a man on a pedestal and suggesting everyone solves this somehow. Solves what? Are you seriously of the impression that the world should:

A) Be extremely concerned with the inner thoughts of a wealthy businessman who decided he dislikes black people yet employs them for millions of dollars.

B) Take some sort of action that will successfully convince this man he suddenly does not dislike black people.

Get real. This isn't a Senator writing laws or a police officer profiling Mexicans, it's dude doing no harm other than hurting feelings with his ignorance. Other examples of this every day? Some of which are actually concerning as they use racism as a hateful way to affect the lives of millions? Ya, a ton of them.

So to rebut, no I still don't agree with you. This man's thoughts are no more harmful than average Joe and I could honestly care less if he gets adulterous BJs in a KKK mask on BET. The racism concern holds water, but not in this context.

Okay so he's going to retire a millionaire; playing golf and tennis, popping Cialis and fucking naive young women until he dies. And he'll still be racist. I understand it's about a zero tolerance racism policy, but it's not going to change anyone's opinions. I guess my question is, will that make it "better"? He's a twisted old fruitcake for sure and ultimately he deserves to be fired but from a realistic standpoint what's that really going to accomplish?

I'd rather have him gone now and retire with his bitches and millions and still be racist, then wait until the clippers are worth a billion. I don't want to change his mind, I want him out of the NBA, and for him to know that everyone thinks he's wrong.

Or do I misunderstand you?
