NASA, those fools

is it just me, or does 50% of every mission NASA puts on fails misserable? that probe with space materials from the sun just ditched itself straight into the earth at over 100 miles an hour because the shoots didnt open

cnn quotes nasa the following

nasa didnt want the scientific materials from the probe to enter earths athmosphere due to safety and health concerns'

are they gonna release some space virus thats gonna kill us all? haha nasa needs to figure their shit out better

well its very experimental shit do you expect them to get it right everytime? It isnt just basic mathematical calculations theres a ton of different elements that go into 'scooping up a piece of the sun'? (I havnt heard anything about this probe)

That's a bummer. I was reading a news story about the stunt pilot who's job it was to catch the motherfucker with a cable from a helicopter so that the samples wouldn't be crushed when the probe landed. I guess he didn't even have the chance to try if the chutes never opened.

Anyway, punk rider is right. There are obviously going to be a lot of failures... I mean, consider the fucking SCOPE of what we're looking at here. The technology and mindpower put into building even the simplest spacecraft is utterly beyond belief, and the factors taken into consideration are just ridiculous. I would attribute a lot of NASA failures to mechanical failure rather than human failure. You can design something in the absolute best way possible, and shit can still go wrong.

nasa is supposed to have some of the smartest minds in the world..it just seems that their track record is kinda OFF

hell like 4 years ago the probe they sent down to mars didnt do anything except land..i mean c'mon...it just seems like nasa is having really bad luck with stuff

yeah, but again, it's fucking rocket science. one little spark in the wrong circut and boom, no more spacecraft. or in this case, a broken parachute that only traveled to the sun and back.

haha, it so fun, the biggest newspaper in norway has an online news page and they try to make cool headlines about everything. 'The sun crashed in utah' was their headline today, because of the o.000002grams of sun-particls that the thing had with it.

Skis of 2005 here!

Well, keep in mind they can't perfect shit, use better materials, etc if their funding keeps getting cut.

Jesus said, 'Lucky is the lion that the human will eat, so the lion

becomes human. And foul is the human that the lion will eat, and

the lion still will become a human.'

so they got inportant stuff the sent out looking for, yet they cant bring it in?

-let people do what they want, ski how you want, make whoever you want your role model its your choice

-i love to ski, so should you, its fun, try it sometime

-thats what the internet is for anonymously slandering people-jason lee

dood, don't worry about it.. NASA only had to throw down a couple billion for this one. Pocket change for those engineers..

that probe for the sun orbited for what like 2 years...maybe three. Its a bummer that it didint work...but next time they will probably get it right because of how this one went.

I want it to snow.

Has anyone seen vids of the early NASA rockets that went up right after the russians shot up sputnik? They crashed so many rockets. It took them a while to figure everthing out, but still they had disasters like Apollo 1, 13, Challenger, and Columbia. The russians have had many miserable failures too. To succeed in something so unknown and foreign as space travel, you are going to fail many times. I think this stuff will continue for a few more decades. Airplanes took a while to perfect, and that is a lot more simple than rocket science.

Also, NASA won't be launchng any rockets for awhile because the Kennedy Space center is so messed up from the hurricane.

this whole parachute deal is jsut another big government conspiracy I expect to see a internet movie about it anyday now. What really happened was Bush was trying to steal oil from the sun and this uncalculated change in weight sent the probe spinning out of control to earth. KERRY 04!!!!
