From what I have heard, the snowboards rode like shit. the only people who liked them were intermediate snowboarders, anyone good thought it was crap.

I have heard the same about the skis.
 
im not riding anything from a company who cant even make a straight line... come on lib tech, haven't u heard of rulers/straight edges?
 
naw they make good big mountain boards- boards longer than 160cm- sizes other companies won;t even touch. lots of people in the west have em.

Lib Tech is a great snowboard company but when they try to squeeze their way into skiing after bagging on it for so many years and then top it off by trying to call it a "snowboard" - i think it's pretty shitty.
 
if you have questions about how they ride, you can PM skimack.  He domoed a lot of companies' '07 skis in Mammoth this year, including lib-tech.  I think he said something about the geometry being really weird on them, and that the magne-traction made them very prone to randomly hooking into a turn when you wanted to go straight or slide.

 
not true, i rode them, and i don't like them that much for park, but they're sick for bigmountain, and steep lines with sketchy snow, cuz they can hold an edge on anything

yeah....and two years ago he was on Rossignol snowboards........they don't give a shit about the gear, they give a shit about they paycheck.
 
i realize a paycheck is a paycheck, but my point is that if they really did suck, I doubt someone like travis rice would ride them day in day out. Especially him, at this point he could pretty much have any board sponsor he wanted.

MOst of the best snowboarders I know, including myself, think magnatraction is the dopeness. Lib tech is cool. I am cool. and i think i saw mike wilson on some last season. so hes cool too.

i dunno, a buddy of mine owns a boardshop and is sponsered by nixon, dragon, technine, and he said they ride amazing. i'm pretty sure he's not intermediate.
 
I am, but I might get some Elizabeths first. I've seen the N.A.S.'s around for $299 a ski. That's $600 a pair and that's about the going rate for a pair of new skis these days. I'm a transplant from the Midwest now skiing on the West coast and I can imagine how well the Magnetraction would work on the bulletproof snow of Minnesota as well as the deep stuff out here in Washington. I'm sure if there is this much interest/curiousity about these skis, Lib Tech will probably be making them for awhile, and maybe in a larger quanitity than they have for the past two years.
 
Evogear had some for $299 a piece a while back, and I think Porters still has them for $299 and possibly Backcountry.com or one of their other sites. For something like this, it would definitely not be in your best interest to buy at a local shop, with the money you'd save buying both skis online, you could get bindings, and a nice sack of weed.
 
How about anybody who says zero edge maintenence is on crack. I don't care how many zig zags the skis have, edges are still made out of metal, they still dull out over time, they still need to be kept up if you want to turn.

Now Travis Rice is going to go where the money takes him. Unless he is owns/founded part of the company, well he probably just does not care. If you give me 6 boards a year, i have no input in the product, and you give me little money...well like im going to stay on that company team for long. Now....i think i feel the way most skiers do....call them skis, sell them in pairs. Its ok, the world is not going to end if you call them skis, and we don't like the whole ( narrow ass snowboards joke). I think that snowboard companys have bashed on us enough to not get our money.

Fuck em. I don't give a shit how good their product is, i support skier based/founded companies. Line,Armada,4FRNT, and 9thward have a hard enough getting by. they don't need any competiton from snowboard makers. They get no love from me.
 
the guy i know who has a lib-tech board rounded the edges as much as he could on the lib-tech and tuned the edges of his other board and the lib-tech still held a better edge than the other one.
 
the ting about that is, that he wouldn't have to ride on a magnetraction board, libtech makes other boards, he rides that model by choice.
 
i know his promodel has it, but it's his choice to design hos snowboard that way instead of traditional edges.

Does anyone really tune their edges?

I get skis and detune the shit out of them, not like i use them, not like I want them. then again i live where there is real snow, so... no edges required.

you dont need edges, you need leg and core strength.

hit the gym, remove your edges, skiing becomes a heavenly experience.
 
trust me i go to the gym. i go 4 days a week at least, so i am in very good shape for skiing. i bet i have an equal if not stronger core, and edges will still make a hell of a difference. im just saying with detuned edges or this magne traction shit, it seems like it would be a heck of a lot harder to carve.
 
stop saying you don't need edges. why would skis even have them if they werent needed? and what are you gonna do at COP when its sheer ice when you have no edges? you say you don't need to turn, but you still need to manoeuver your way to the jumps and stuff. and you need edges to stop.

i was just skiing soooooooooooo fast it looked like I was not going in a straight line. I had the speed wobbles.

no carving allowed.
