Names of spins?

um, theres the 360, the 540, the 720, the 900, the 1080, the 1260, the 1440, etc.

and if you feel REALLY daring, theres the 180.
 
uhg:

cab = switch 3 spin or greater (half cab = switch 180)

cork = your body lies flat and spins, as if you were to turn a wine bottle on its side and spin the cork, your feet point downhill when doing this

bio = same as cork, but your head faces downhill instead of feet

rodeo = backflip + spin

misty = frontflip + spin

underflip = lincoln + 180

overflip = like an underflip but throw the flip downhill (see pete olenick)

flatspin = body is on its side and doing a backflip (ex. see homer simpson)

 
An over flip is a misty 5. You roll over your right shoulder into like a sideways barrel roll, and then turn another 90 degrees before landing switch.

An underflip is when you turn 90 and then flip underneath like a sideways backflip, and then turn another 90 degrees before landing switch
 
And there are more than 4 rotations.

When people say spin all 4 ways, they mean Natural (spin left for me) Unnatural (to the right) Switch natural (switch to the left) and switch unnatural (switch and to the right)
 
cab means that you're on a skateboard and doing a nollie frontside trick. if you're going off a jump backwards, you're going off fakie. there's no such thing as cab on skis. just like there's no such thing as a lipslide.

you're dead wrong. cork you do lean back with your head uphill, bio is forward with your head downhill. and rodeo is not quite a backflip 3, it's where you drop your should the way our spinnging making you go inverted and spinning on a wierd rotating axis. d-spins are straight back 3s.

Cork

A cork is a off axis spin that is leaned back, but so that the rider does not go inverted at any point. It is a popular trick, and many pro’s and amateurs do these very well.

Set the same way a cork is, but is more leaned back. A d-spin is essentially any cork where you become inverted. In all of these videos note how the feet will go above the head. Evan Raps does these very well, also see Mike Douglas.

Rodeo

A rodeo is not an off axis spin like a cork, d-spin or bio. It is a spin with a FULL inversion, aka, the riders feet at some point in the spin go directly OVER his or her head. See Mark Abma in Yearbook for a very sick and slowed down Rodeo 7. Also, Mike Wilson rules at these, see Ready, Fire, Aim for some huge ones.

Flatspin

Flatspins are very close to rodeos. They are thrown almost the exact same, but the difference is that in a flatspin, the rider never gets completely inverted. Heres a way to think about it: A line extending through you from your head to your toes when you stand up. In a rodeo, this line ends up completely inverted at some point (although your feet can be somewhere else, like leaned back in a tail or a mute or something) while in a flatspin, this line never reaches true vertical. The line between what is a rodeo and a flatspin is understandably very blurry, especially when one considers tweaked grabs and such.

Misty

A Misty is the counterpart of the Rodeo. It is a spin with a front flip. Note in these how you can see the skis go OVER the persons head and wrap around.

Underflips

An underflip can easily be mistaken for a rodeo or a misty. It’s an odd rotation: a 90 degree turn off the lip, followed by a lincoln loop up the hill (head faces jump followed by feet) to another 90, landing backwards. See niklas karlstrom in teddybear crisis up the step-up, or in X off of a small snowbank. Vincent Dorion also does these well.

Overflips

Baisically the opposite of an underflip, commonly mistaken for a misty 5. 90, lincoln loop downhill (feet face jump followed by head) to another 90, landing backwards. see mike wilson in ready, fire, aim or in superpark 2. These do look almost exactly like misty’s. Searching on NS, I could only find one video of an overflip, and it wasn’t that great of an example. We need your video!

Lincoln Loops

A single inversion, with no spin. Basically, just a cartwheel, where the rider flips to the side, doing a barrel roll. These are usually done off cliffs, especially when Seth Morrison is around.

Kangaroo Flip

Jon Olsson, Sweedish wonderboy, pulled off this trick at the Jon Olsson Invitational this year (2006), blowing the other simple spins out of the water. It’s a double flatspin by many peoples terminology. With Mike Wilson pulling off double corks, expect to see more of these ‘double inversions’ in the near future. This will no doubt make this guide a whole lot longer.

That's pretty damn good. I like how you said cork and bio, I wouldn't have thought of putting it that way.... but ur rodeo and misty is completely wrong.

Rodeo is an inverted flat spin. Misty you throw your shoulder down and across.
 
Theres some confusion over that fact. Apparently, Mike wasnt the 'creator' since someone already was throwing them when he learned them. However, he popularized them for sure.
 
yea dude - cab is switch unnatural or nothing at all.

as said earlier, cab is from skatboarding.... snowboarders use the term to discribe switch frontside (i think it should be switch backside - at least for me, 'cause i'm goofie)

 
skiers cant do cab anything. we dont have the proper equipment. for that matter niether can snowboarders. but i like to say cab 5 anyhow.
 
exactly. but in fact front side spinnig is easier than backside, for snow-skate-whatever-boarders. So cab should be switch natural spinning, which doesn't need any specification.
 
wrong. a cab on a skateboard is a fakie frontside 3, invented by Stevie Cabellaro. Saying that skiing cant have cab is like saying that skiing cant have truckdriver because we dont have handlebars to spin. NO SHIT you cant do a fakie fs 3, but skiing has adapted it as a switch spin 3 or higher.
