not necessarily... there are many options beyond gasoline/electric hybrids... things like bio-diesel are even more environmentally friendly, and it works in any diesel engine so you can save resources by not buying a new car.. but I agree with your overal point that if you arent concerned about climate change than you are destroying the very sport you love and making it more expensive and more scarce.
My dream car is a VW golf TDI with a block heater installed in the engine so that I am able to use bio-diesel all year round.

i own my dream car... 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle... beautiful bought and paid cash for it, and yes its a gas whore 6-8mpg ha and yes it's my daily driver... just had the motor rebuilt, air bags next... 3" chop top next along with fresh pain...454 or true 396 coming soon... ahh so many projects and yeah im 19 and yeah i have the cash flow... work construction 1g a week laid off winters with 450 a week unemployment so i can ski...aaah ive got it made.
