Hey,

I am just returning into the world of skiing after having been snowboarding for the last 15 years. I still skiied every year once or twice however not that much or with any sort of seriousness. I pretty much like to ride a bit of everything; except I seem to spend less and less time in the park and more time on natural terrain. I think that this year I am going to take the plunge and get back into skiing more. Not that I am going to stop snowboarding but I am hoping to do both equally. Does anyone have any suggestions for good all around skis that would work for me? I am 6'1'' and about 170 lbs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For a one ski quiver maybe look in to getting some Armada ARV's in a 185 for a nice all mountain blend. You could also look at the new Line Blends, they have been beefed up to a fatter waist and seem like they would be really fun as well.

I can recommend the 189 K2 Seths for some really fun big mountain skiing, but they might be a little heavier than what you are looking for if you enjoy the park.

For an all around ski, I'd have to recommend the ARV 185 as well. If I could only have one ski, this would be it. It's fine in the park, and shreds everywhere else too.

Wow, + karma for making an answerable thread with your first post! Good work!

At first I was hesitant about all the ARV recommendations. I wasn't sure that you would be able to handle a 185 if you haven't been seriously skiing in so long. Right now I'm tenitavely agreeing, but if you could give us more in depth about your skiing ability, that would be helpful. Going by just your size you'd probably be fine, but just to be sure...

Thanks for all the responses. I was honeslty thinking of the ARVs with my initial lookings. As for my skiing abilities, I would rate myself as intermediate when I was skiing more than snowboarding. I think what I am planning on doing is just taking the plunge and going for it. I think I will like the challenge or getting back into it. The biggest thing for me is that I don't want anything that will limit me in the long run. I can't see myself spending too much time in the parks. I mostly ski the canadian rockies but if the opportunity arises, I want to be able to spend some time in the park if I choose.

Thanks everyone for your responses.
