ok so over the summer i was in virgia and we were a rental home and they had trivial pusuit. we didnt play the game we just asked the questions. so anyway one of the questions was Who gets the extra loaf in a bakers dozen? and the answer was the devil. Now i thought wtf, and no one could figure it out. its fuckin crazy, i want to write to em and ask em y the devil gets an extra loaf in a bakers dozen

there is an old folk story about a butcher who refused to be kind to the devil when he was dressed as an old woman, and because he wouldnt help the old lady out and give her an extra loaf to feed her starving family, the devil cursed the profession, and decreed that a baker's dozen would be 13 loafs and that he (the devil) would get the 13th.
