Myspace .. Reloaded?

If its a repost, I'm sorry. I searched "myspace" and found nothing on this. It also listed older threads before newer threads? If someone cares to explain that, that'd be cool.

Interesting idea, won't be making my own personal account because I really don't need another social media platform. The only reason it interests me is because I'll most likely have to make one for my music blog to keep up with the competition (which sucks imo).

Thoughts?

Saw this earlier today. I'm on the fence about making an account. It looks pretty clean. We'll see how many people use it when it's released

I liked myspace back in the day. They didn't have to try and make it all facebooky.

Also one of the only reasons I used to be able to do a lot of coding. Started with fucking around and building my myspace profile. Facebook sucked in comparison I thought. Don't know how it blew up. In 05 it was pretty much like wow, facebook is gay, and we just stayed on myspace. Nobody had a fucking facebook anyway. Well college kids, that was about it.

Also the groups on myspace were legit. Used to be in a really cool surfing group on there. Actually met a couple of the guys from there while I was staying in california around 04 ish. They showed me where the good spots were that weren't too over crowded.

Idk, I just liked the vibe of myspace.

Not sure if gusta... Im not on social media sites enough to warrant an account. Ns, on the other hand, if its a social media site then I have an erectile problem

I agree with the whole customization argument. It's the main reason I really liked Myspace at first. Each person had a different flavor of profile. Then all those shitty applications (which have ruined FB) started showing up.

You're also right about it teaching just about everybody the basic skills to editing a website with codes. The better you were at it, the better your shit looked imo. I still use some of those skills I learned today with my Wordpress.

I actually really like it. Its exactly what I would want in a social network, ive been waiting for something like this. You can share music and artists really well and stream as good as a standalone music site like pandora, share photos as easy as instagram and cleaner then facebook, interact socially like facebook, twitter AND google+. I really like the idea of sharing content too, kinda reminds me of a social pintrest. I hope it works.

Only reason i made a Facebook was in early 05/ maybe 06' to see kids who were going to my college/perspective colleges

I feel you on being able to stream and share music easily. Unlike facebook where you have to install some shitty application which just spams everyones walls anyways.

agreed. i love the graphic design they showed in the video, hopefully it stays the same.

the one problem with myspace was the fact that you could freely edit your html coding on your page, while some could do it tastefully, others made their profiles look like a clusterfuck of epilepsy and garbage. if the new myspace can find a midground between customization of pages like the old myspace through colors/layouts, possibly similarly to tumblr, and the consistency and simplicity that facebook has, i think it will be successful.

Well how i'm seeing this new myspace is how i see how it went down with the facebook takeover

Myspace was cool hip but had a lot of junk on it as well.

Facebook came out provided a cleaner userface and was easy to get started and work through. It gained popularity so the switch happened.

Google + happened but no one wanted to waste the effor to having to switch all that information to new system where none of their friends were on.

Now this new myspace is allow people to have a much much much cleaner format than that of the current facebook. Its very sleek, and clean looking. I don't know how user friendly it is as i haven't made an account myself.

However, the only way the new myspace is going to take off is if they make it super easy to connect with, and allow all your friends from facebook to come over to myspace. With allowing the connect to facebook button they are making that step even easier.

It has great potential but it all relies on the people of facebook to have to have a need to switch. If that isn't created then there isn't a point to have to spend that effort for it.

facebook slowly went from my most used social site to my very least used. Something needs to come in and replace it and this shows potencial. the only plus to facebook, literally everyone has one. so this would have to get out there as much as that.
