Leckett, I was not saying that being 'gay' or 'retarded' is a bad thing, in face I said quite the oppisite. I was pointing out how the words are not insulting in their actual definition, but it is because of these definitoins that some people have started to use them as insults. You completely missed what I was saying.

As for Rachael, you probably aren't a horrible person, but the fact that you can insult someone with the word retard while you are so passionate about helping people who fall under the word as it is actually defined does piss me off. As for the rest of the response, read what I wrote. think about it, then read it again, maybe you'll get my point.

definitly never did say that in any way. What I said was the words retard refers to people with certain mental and physical disabilities, and when used as an insult, is it done so because these people are thought of by some as 'not as good' as normal people... in no way does that imply that the word retard is only derogetory... Although I do think the work when used alone to describe people who might fit into that category is a bit offensive.

Actually, it's commonly accepted that retard/retarded is no longer PC. The preferred term is actually "mentality disabled."

i do not recall her ever saying or implying that she did this to seem as a compassionate person. you made this up and further with it, added on many unnessecary insults...like i said: your job is to moderate the site, not start shit and make things up. i am aware that you spoke your opinion but there was never need for any insult

I've been asked by the admins to try and keep the site clean, however, if I feel like going off on someone, I have just as much a right to do it as you do. I am in no way a moderator because it's a 'job', it's just that I have been trusted enough by the people in charge of the site to help them maintain a good site. If you'd like to further discuss this point, we can do that.

I'm dropping the rest of it (sure i insulted her, I am not denying that, but it was in an attempt to educate people and give them some lessons to better live by), but this needed to be adressed, as you're wrong about that.

I started as a mod because I loved the sit and enjoyed helping out (back when Harvey ran it). I've stayed on and done what I can to help out with improving the site, and there have been changes made because of suggestions I and the other mods have made. We don't get 'paid', but there is compensation for what we do now. I'm not going to give out details as I'm not so sure that it's something that you need to know, but there are deals on gear, housing, tickets, and lots of hookups within the industrry for what we do. I would hardly call that being anyone's bitch.
 
Uh, no actually. Retard has not been a "proper" term since the early 90's. Trust me. I've lived with this stuff my entire life.
