My weekend was better than yours

So Im studying abroad in Europe, and went to Interlocken, Switzerland for the weekend. Saturday morning I woke up and went canyoning, which is this:

Its actually illegal in the United States (insurance purposes im sure).

Then in the after noon I did CAnyon Jumping. You can only do canyon jumping in 4 places in the WORLD: 2 in New Zealand, 1 in Africa, and 1 in Interlaken. Video of some guy doing what i did

You literally are in free fall for a few seconds then swing in between to canyons which are CLOSE AS SHIT and come 3 meters (12 FUCKIN FEET) from the rocky ass river at 80mph.

Then I got laid by this girl from Florida who was at our hostel.

Sparknotes: My weekend was better than yours.

i smoked large amounts of weed this weekend i dont know about you but thats satisfying enough for me

holy beaver tits.yeah you win....that sounds like such a dope weekend. I've never seen "canyoning" before but that looks like its gotta be the coolest job ever.

thats sick. i dont know how they come out with out broken fingers, ankles, legs, arms, or wrists.

the second video was insane, my balls/stomach would drop so bad.

kinda dont believe you got laid though......

Balmers hostel has its own night club and is supposedly one of the best bars if not THE best bar in switzerland. Its pretty much all Americans, Australians, Brits and a few germans. If the day wasn't crazy enough the nightlife was definitely one of the wildest I've come across since I've been here

Me too. The last jump we did while canyoning was literally about 10 foot into 1.5 feet of water. You have to land perfectly on your back to stop you from hitting the bottom (larger surface area) or you will break your ankles/legs. Just the mental battle to get yourself to jump off a waterfall and land in 1.5 feet of water on your back was insane in itself.

Sounds like you had one hell of a weekend. My weekend was supposed to be good, but now it's not so good.

That area of Switzerland is so damn nice. Spent some time 2 summers ago in Wengen, too bad I never got there in the winter because the skiing is apparently unreal. But nice spot to go, sounds like you had a sick weekend!

Friday: football game then after dark, shho twalls hand. Saturday: first fall lax game scored a goal, then huge rager that night

looks so sick. i smoked, went to my high school football game, and went on a bike ride. not better than yours so congrats!

So is canyoning just wearing as many pads as you can then sliding down the river that goes through it?That sounds fun as hell.

Friday: western festival ft vodka

Saturday: western festival ft vodka, 'caine, speed, weed and much more.

sunday: I might be dying`

my weekend was better

Its a wetsuit with a helmet and life jacket. Far from a lot of padding. Plus its not just slides its jumping off of waterfalls and rocks and shit

I've been canyoning up in Nothern Scotland before, hungover as shit at a stag weekend. was soooooooooo much fun though - if you forget the fact that the water must've been like 5 degrees or less. I have never felt colder water in my life.

Did you have to climb up some of the waterfalls or did you just have a trail to walk? Think that was the hardest part of ours.

Also, we did cliff jumping but i really they wish they'd had that rope swing thing, looks absolutely crazy!!

canyoning is the fucking bomb. didnt know its illegal in the US.

i would so like to train on my swimming skills just a bit to be able to get my canyoning guide license. not for actual guiding but just to be able to do it on my own and with buddies.

and i heard you do nasty canyons during the guide-course. some of them are closed for normal groups.

i know a few guides and they told me there is one canyon where they would drop a rucksack down a waterfall and some 20 seconds later it would appear 60 ft downstream. and guess what, thats how YOU get down that waterfall too, you just drop and hold your breath and get into that underwater stream (at like 6-8 ft depth) and get to the surface half a minute later. must be scary.

another story i heard: another guide (who almost drowned in an easy canyon some years ago) told me that their instructor dropped his rucksack (seems like the usual tactic to test how safe it is) and it fell down the waterfall, swam for a few feet and all of a sudden, it got pulled down towards the ground by some weird current and never appeared again.

and over here the mountain rescue has a "list" of canyons where they wont help anyone. if you are in there, youd better get down because there is no other way out. some canyons take more than 4 hours or a lot longer and if something happens, youre trapped.

the dangerous canyons all have some kind of watermark at the top to check how safe it is that day. in one canyon its a concrete pipe and you have to check how broad the waterstream is running through it. if its 1 meter, its safe. if its 1 meter 20, everybody who enters the canyon will probably die and if its 0.8 you wont get to the bottom or die because all the pools dont have enough water.

BOTTOM LINE: canyoning is fucking legit but also dangerous. google canyoning accidents and you will see why.

Yeah we had natural slide that went into a 20 foot waterfall. I went to hold my breath during the slide and ended up getting a mouth full of water instead. I went off the waterfall and was under for about 10 seconds till I came up. Not much but it was a little scary.

But the really scary part was that because the water is so cold, you can't tell when you are above the water or not. Normally you can feel the air, but your face is somewhat numb so its all a guess. I had my contacts in too so I couldnt open my eyes or anything.

HAHA NO WAY!! i love interlacken, been there 3 times its fucking awesome!!! i've done cannoning, rafting and paragliding with them. hah did you get beer and cheese after wards like they always do? :P FUCK I MISS IT i was just there this summer :(

hahah also did you do the 8 hour one or just the short like 2 hour one? i always stay at the camp site in lauterbrunenn like 10 minutes away from interlaken, such a fucking nice valley with all the waterfalls and shit coming down. oh and have you been to jungfrau? that shits pretty dope been up there twice

how cold is the water? i know that kind of irreverent since you're in drysuits and whatnot, but i'm just curious.

and i had easily the worst weekend of my life.

where i was, it was very cold, and the water will flow through the suits at one point anyways but they kinda keep you warmer than i expected.

the water wont be a lot warmer than 10°C i would guess, but thats not the problem.

I was about to open this and talk about how mine was better because I was travelling through Switzerland, but it turns out you were right beside me! I was in grindewald for 3 days which is right by interlaken and then Lucarno for 3 days, now im spending the year in Neuchatel! I plan on going to interlaken to sky dive shortly.
