My view on God

YOU are the one with the burden of proof in this case. My view is based upon observations, tested hypothesis and accepted science. Good luck trying to prove beyond any reasonable doubt there is evidence of a higher being, because no human has been able to do so as of yet.
 
Interesting take on it, I like it. My view differs a little, as I see faith being a soley human created state. In essence, higher powers are just humanly created devices to allow our minds to enter that state of happiness. But interesting take, I like it.
 
The more you talk, the more I realize you have no grasp of such commonly accepted concepts like plate tectonics, astronomy, relatively tame physics and the natural world. Please dont go through life believeing that small changes do not add up, and that simply because humans cannot replicate perfectly or observe completely that these effects simply do not occur.
 
what i want to know oakleyman540 is what do you think when you watch the discovery channel? take shark week. any time you here this shark has been around for 2 million years, do you just say "ahh they just don't know" or what?
 
actually your right i was watchin shark week and i heard millions of years and i really just dont care because everyone is entitled to believe what they want, Evolution now days has become the accepted way of life, millions of years to me is just stupid, we dont have any way of telling except carbon dating and that is a discussion in itself.....i think its stupid because it uses circular reasoning we tell the age of the earth by the index fossil and the index fossil by which layer it came from, but that is what i think when i hear millions of years
 
i see what you are saying if it gradually flows down, saying this the river could have never eroded the canyon, the top is higher than the start of the river so if it would have eroded the canyon you would see a slight drop in elevation on the canyon rim, not a 4000 foot increase....

But seriously; millions of years is hard to comprehend, true. So are things like DNA, atoms and LINUX. Just because they are out of your understandable reach of comprehension doesnt mean they are false. It just means they're hard for you to understand.

Besides that, carbon dating is not inaccurate. It has a margin of error, just like any other prediction or outcome from physical science. The only way it could be inaccurate, as stated before, was if the laws of physics have drastically changed over the last 10,000 years. And from what we see, things like gravity and the speed of light have pretty much always been constant. Theres no real reason to think they've fluctuated wildly in the somewhat recent past.

Even if they did, the other means we use to date things would still be supportive enough of the estimated dates to label them positive. Things like tree rings, snowfall layers in ice, magnetic bands in the seafloor on continental boundaries and radioactive half-lifes of many many other rare elements all agree with each other and carbon dating when we go and make a comprehensive history of the Earth. They all match up, around the globe, and they all agree. A wealth of evidence has been collected by biologists, geologists, astrophysicists and the like over hundreds of years that supports that the Earth is older than the bible says. Its hard to wrap your head around, but thats science.

Alot of the bible's credibility is erased by proof of the age of the earth. However, in no way does this affect the idea that there is a creator or almighty being.
 
I agree with you on the second point

I was just wondering how old you think the earth is. Cuz like, the bible never really tells an exact date of when God created the earth Nor how long Adam and Eve were in the garden of eden (Gen 1). It couldve been like 5000 bc or 3000bc or even 10000 bc but then you get into like when dinasaur age was and/ or when the first date was recorded. we wont ever know though
 
although the idea of god as well as religion is completely rediculous...i suppose it was an alright essay from you point of view.

But Christianity is just the newest, most popular religion of this time. It matches up with basically all the other religions, and just changes the names and dates to bring them closer to our time. Sadly, Christianity caught on during a time when everyone thought it would be a good idea (and it is a good idea) to write everything down and expand the then narrow margin of thought (0ish C.E.). So Christianity was written into the history books and programmed into the minds of an oppressed people, especially after Rome fell. The dark ages were rough times, and people were exceptionally succeptible to a certain mindset which would give them relief from the hardships of their daily life. Those who lived comfortably, were the least reverent, but were often rewarded with high ranking, religious positions such as Barons, Bishops, etc.

Christianity takes the basis of physics and allows people to channel it into a simple, single belief, thus giving them a relief valve, and the will to carry on. Because God is so strongly believed in, people can take relief that they aren't alone in believing, and, according to phsyics, supposing everybody could use 100% of their brain, and all believe entirely that something is real, the matter around them would in fact shift, and God would be real.

Unfortunately such passion has been focused into something as futile as a means of our existance, and not pooled into something constructive and useful, like furthering our expansion into space!

That is MY view on religion. It's just a silly means of escape from the reality of life, and people should really accept this and realize that there is so much more beauty and wonder left to be had in the NOW, not in some paradise in the clouds where everything is brought to you with a thought. Heaven is the pussy way out, Living is reality.
