I have been making timelapses for just over a year now and this is a compilation of my favourite shots

Please give me some feedback on how I could improve this edit, ideas for new and different shots and just your thoughts on my showreel.

I hope you like it.

Wow! Those were really nice! Enjoyed it!

I liked the shot on the boat. It was nice to see something than just clouds rolling by.

One thing I noticed was when you did a time lapse of the moon, you sped it up halfway through or so, I don't know if that was on purpose, but I didn't really like it personally.

I put that speed change it to make it easier to see the detail on the moon after it comes past the tree. I do know what you mean though, not sure it worked that well. What I should have done was put it at a constant speed and just crop down that clip at the beginning so it started with the moon nearly past the tree.

Thanks for the feedback and i'm very glad you liked it. Always great to hear what people think of my edits.

Sick showreel man, loved it. I reckon if you got a motorised dolly you could get some amazing timelapses.

I loved the shots at 1:04 and 1:50, great job man! I want to get into some timelapse photography as well.

I really suggest picking up a motion slider if you're that into time lapses witch it looks like you are, that was really well done man.

Thanks.

I have been thinking of investing in a motorised slider but im currently lacking the money to make the investment. They all seem quite expensive.

Not sure why you thanking him but hey you should definitely invest in a motorised slider i wish I had one. I think ive found a pretty decent site based in the UK (so shipping should be pretty cheap for me).

Anyone heard of digislider?

http://digislider.co.uk/

Seems pretty legit and can also be used as a standard slider.

Any thoughts on this?

Nice edit, Ive seen some timelapses on vimeo where people have used the dynamic perception dolly, seems like a good piece of kit. If you could buy it in the UK it might be quite affordable. Shipping and taxes from the US could make it quite expensive.

lookin really good!

only thing i didn't like was that the composition in a lot of them were mostly sky. I think a larger variety of compositions would have helped because it got a little repetitive. More objects in the foreground please!

I have been looking to make my timelapses more interesting with the focus not being just on the moving clouds. I feel that if I get a motorised dolly this may be a little easier and the final result will be much more interesting.

Neat shots, too much of them were cloud shots imo, and I didn't like the song with the edit for some reason.

I agree that I need to do more timelapses with a different focus than clouds. I want to do more starlapses in the future but the 550d is pretty noisy in low light.

I personally like the song and I used it because I wanted to use something a bit different than the stereotypical classical music that accompany most timelapses. But my music choice is never going to be to everyone's taste.

Thanks for the feedback k+

In this edit all the movement was done in post. I use final cut pro to edit and to get the movement I just zoomed in on the clip, dragged the clip to one side, set a keyframe. Then set the playhead to the end of the clip, dragged the clip to the other side and set another keyframe.

I hope this helps a little. Please feel free to ask more questions if I haven't explained it very well or you just have any general questions.

That was one of the few reels that I've watched start to finish. Nice shots of Queenstown, Ruapehu, Taupo and the interislander haha!

Song suited the tempo of the edit as well.

Honestly, i found most of those shots a little repetitive, but when i was about to give up on it, that interislander shot popped up and saw your creativity glimmer. So i was entranced for the rest of it. I think you have great potential to make some super creative shit, This season!
