my thoughts on style and the progression of skiing

i am very disturbed by stereotype.

with the exception of phil dion, almost every grab in this movie was a safety grab. some people would say that this is progressive and crosses are lame and blah blah blah, but cmon guys doin the crosses is part of being a skier, it's what makes alot of our tricks look so fucking sick, to me almost every snowboarding grab looks the same, but we can do so much more, mutha fuckin mutes tails criticals japans and other shit are so sick.

so what's the deal with the over use of the safety grab? your thoughts please

obviously you missed my point, they werent grabbin tail only safety, and they were half assed safetys at that, a lot of them were just grabbing their boot.

i kinda agree....but no...huge major tweaked grabs are ok...but stylie loose phil grabs are sick...tai pans are the shit too....loose grabs are super stylie....but there gets to be a point where they just lok like shit....i think we can do much better than safety's

a safety is just that safety. they are not comfortable enough in the air to pull anything else. I know if I'm off balence in the air I go for the safety. I agree though. the cross is what seperates us from boarders. It makes us diferent. a safety you just grab and hold. you can't really tweak out a safety. with a cross you can tweak it out so many different ways. crosses are where its at.

why do we need to seperate ourselves from boarders? boarding is just as dope as skiing

i dont think its just as good as skiing and that we do need to create a seperate identity cause we arent skiiers who are just looking to snowboard...

i think jon mixes up his grabs morethan any pro skier out there. he does safetys, then he does safetys crossed. his cork 7 opposite mutes are AMAZING, and he tweaks the bejesus out of them. to me, thats progression- being able to put every kind of grab into your trick.

jon is the tailgrab king tho, it looks so sick when he lays down the smooth Dspin 900 tail. Crosses to look sick, and its good to mix it up.

 
Candide and Jon are tailgrab kings. And they are both different. Those are the 2 best skiers right now.

Here's a thought about Jon's crosses. I'm pretty sure their badass to begin w/, but who also thinks that the white tips of the skis really enhance it?

 
boarding is cooler than skiing...it looks cooler, the scene is cooler and the magazines are 1000 times better...snowboarding owns us...

yeah dude- those heads make his crosses look soo sick. but if you notice in happy days- he has a variety of different kind of crosses. the one with his d9s and his loop safety thingy on the hip have his feet really far apart. i guess thats kinda his textbook cross, and then on his cork 7 reverse mute he has a sort of narrower stance.

snowboard style sucks. i got nothing against snowboarding, i think its cool and all, but it essentially licks my ass. it just doesn't look that cool.

i still cant get over how lame tanner's flatspins look with a saftey grab (in sm2) i mean, maybe one would be cool, but EVERY SINGLE TIME HE DOES THAT TRICK is a safety grab...it looks retarded
