My take on chairlifts

I firmly believe that the people who own the ski mountains/ chairlift companies purposely make them go slow so you can get dome on them. Like think about it even the high speed lifts and gondolas arent that fast. HELLO PEOPLE its the 21st century im sure if they really really wanted to they could have them go in excessive of 100 mph and slow down enough for people to load/unload them. I just cant imagine any other reason behind chairlifts except to get some dome on your way up the mountain while sitting next to a nice lady friend. Honestly, the things go probably like 10 mph max. NS give me your opinions.

i concur that dome on the lift is nice, but i doubt that they could speed up the lifts much more without making them unsafe... think of how many people fuck up getting on and off the lifts and they are slow, think of the consequences if they were faster.

the faster a chairlift goes, the more packed trails are... i go to smuggs becouse i look for Quality, not quantity, a nd i dont mind a slow ride, it dosent matter how long the lines are, it just comes down to how many ppl are on the lift, as to getting dome, i get that enoughnuff said

This is serious. I just dont see any other logical explanation. Yes people do fall getting on and off the lifts but im sure they could make them go faster and still slow down to the same speed we have them today to load/unload. If we can send a man to the moon and have jets that can go twice the speed of sound how come chairlifts can only go 10 mph?

you have to understand that there are other people than just your horny self if they sped it up it would pretty unsafe and people could get way more hurt then they would if it was slower. But i like your thinking...

i read it, didnt think it was funny. then thought i wont rip on him if he has a bunch of posts....you have 18

Chairlifts have a maximum capacity. Most of them try to operate at this.
High speed quads go pretty fast. They then slow down at the top and at the bottom to accommodate people getting on and off. When they slow down, if you haven't noticed, the chairs get closer together for an instant. Currently the distance between is typically just enough for a good enough skier or snowboard to follow and load safely.
To speed up the chair would mean this distance would decrease if they kept the same amount of chairs, or that they would need to remove chairs to keep the distance long enough.
They are most likely operating at their maxim capacity/safety.
Fixed grips though.... I hate those. They alway slam into the back of my legs. Those they can't slow down cause they are fixed. So they only go one speed, and that speed is how fast people can load safely.

The chairlifts at Baker annoy me. They put the Bullwheel right above where you load so the damn chair swings around at like 2000mph and takes out your knees.

So by making this thread you thought you were gonna get mad "cool" points cause you claim to get dome all the time...............?

if anyone correctly calculates the power needed to propel a fully loaded chair lift to over 100 mph I will send you 5 dollars via pay pal.

this is impossible without knowing about the chair. Quad, triple, double, single? How much does everyone weigh in their ski gear. I assume you are speaking in terms of the maximum weight capacity of the chair, but still, how are we to know the mass of the chair without knowing SHIITE about it? haha

nice, lets say 25 degrees, you can assume any other constants as long as you cite them in the answer.

fuck, I was gonna say this. this is correct though, high speed lifts are optimized for max capacity and speed of loading

they don't slow down. they detach. all high speed lifts detach to a different cable for people getting on, then reattach to the hi speed cable immediately after. sorry i just felt the need to clarify..

yes since when its 3 degrees out, i want to be exposed to hundred mile an hour winds. also, it is safer and cheaper. your kind of dumb

haha i was going to mention smuggs atfter i read the first sentence. fucking slow chairs but nobody on the hill

my mountain is so small that if they put in a high speed quad there would be too many people on the mountain and it would be entirely too crowded

There's a few places out west that have completely done away with chairlifts and have retrofitted them with new teleporters to instantly beam u to whatever peak you desire.

However, use caution... if you have no ticket you will be "beamed" into solid rock.

you wouldnt have enough time to get to the loading spot, the chair would hit you before you got to the load here sign.

plus, there are so many things that are stupid in this thread that i could correct, but, its just not worth my time. but i shall leave you with this.

use fucking common sense.
