get a petex job done by a teck. it will last alot longer. just tell them u want it to last along time. they might be sent away to a better shop but they will comeback almost as good as new.

dont get it twisted

or just petex it again. I ttake sliek 10 minutes

I am very discouraged to the fact that the site adminster didn't look at my profile or ask before doing something like this. I may be new to this website but I have been skiing more then most of you.

PLEASE research or ask before making such assumptions like this one.

dont fuck around and just patch that shit. cut out all the crap and put in a patch done and done

thats what ptex does buddy, its not gonna be there forever. Just do it again, theres no other choice, and make sure u get it perfectly level w/ the base or else its gonna pop right out and skiing will suck.

shyt i forget the name of it but its a certain p-tex that has metal in it so it bonds to the core better. but see if the pe-tex gets too hot and cools to quick it will crack... there is an art but p-tex will nvr really last that long.

that is nothing wow. throw a lil basewelled. i have seen 5 inch long gashes that almost went through the core.

what really helps is to get some sandpaper and rough up the inside of the gouge before you put the PTEX in then it bonds ALOT better. Or just chop up the base with the metal scrapper you have too then put the ptex in. A little may fall out the next day...but just do the same thign again. After 2 or 3 treatments you sould be gold(if you have the ptex touch)

if worse comes to worse, go buy some 2 part epoxy and put it in there, and try to make it as leval as possible while its still wet. then when it dries, take some sand paper and sand the epoxy down, but be sure not to sand your base, then when its level use a really fine grit sand paper to smooth it out. and give your skis a wax and your good to go.

ok to actually fix it. you need to cut clean edges with a razor blade. then you put baseweld in there. then you slowly grate that off. then put ptex over that then scrap that off. then sand and then wax. take it too a shop for 10 buck u will be back in action. or u can fuck it over and let your core rot and have ur ski break on u

take it to a reputable shop. that's ptexable..... don't patch it. unless it get's bigger, or starts getting worse. then patch that shit.

It can't be fixed unless you are cutting out a big piece of the base and put in a new piece.

bla bla blabla

baseweld is a type of plastic. higher melting point and it bonds with wood unlike ptex. that is why ur ptex fell off. you put it in a glue gun contraption instead of lighting it up.

they should make a tech section on tunning skis on here. just a thought

leave it alone, don't be a pussy you're not a racer it's not gona do shit to your skiing.

yes, listen to these guys. ptex will not stick to fiberglass. you need to get that basewelded. dont bother trying to do it yourself. take them to the most oldschool shop around with lots of racer techs there. they will fix that shit up good. the guy i used to work for had a ski (brand new pair of sal. crossmax 10s) that had over 30 inches of base gone. he had the shit lookin brand new. you seriously couldnt tell where it was. and oh yeah, get your bases waxed. they are hella dried out.

what you have to do is cut away all the loose bits with a sharp knife so its more of an oval shape. if you want to do it yourself go out and buy the best two part epoxy you can buy but get the stuff thats semi flexible and buy some model paint thats the same color of your base to mix in with the epoxy but dont use to much only put the paint in little bit at a time. other then that you should take it to a shop and get a patch, the techs will cut out your base and laying a new piece of base material, dont ptex it because ptex sucks for core shots, you could get away with using poly but the patch is the best way. as for baseweld, what the hell is that?

they usually dont just glue in a new peice of ptex. a baseweld is a special type of plastic that is squeezed out of a hot glue gun type thing, and sticks to EVERYTHING. once it sets up, they use a rasp to take it down to the same level as your bases. then they usually hit it with some ptext. the epoxy will work temporairly, but if is anywhere near your boot, dont even bother, it will fall out too. plus it sucks when you wax your skis, cause it gets sticky.

Thats not that bad. my friend has 2 that are each a half foot of exposed core. and he just deals with it.

haha I got mine fixed knocked the p-tex out the next day....it wont last....at least u still have edges

burn it down

peace up

if your going to a shop get a patch instead of a base weld. now i know what people are talking about its really called a poly gun and a patch is a way better option because poly is similar to ptex but is stronger and doesnt crack as easily but it still isn't as good as a new piece of base material when you get a patch
