My season has ceased to exist

god damn its good to be back on ns. probably no one noticed , but i was gone for i what felt like a reallly long time. it started 2 days before new year, and to make a long story short, got caught by the cops at 2 am piss drunk, got arrested, and got mostly all freedoms taken away by my parents. yea fuckin sucks

now get this. its my first day of skiing after a months of grounding (feb. 3rd) and im pretty much foaming at the mouth at the sight of a rail, or even a lift. i drop in for my first run and almost jizzed. now after a few runs of enjoying everything i wanted to pound out my list of tricks that i needed to get on lock. so im sessioning this small about 25 foot jump at HV. after my first run i decided i hated it. the lip was to steep, and the landing was pretty much flat, which meant landing forward happened almost evertime. but i said screw it , ive waited to long... bad mistake. i went for a 7 tail and everything was peachy about it untill i get to 5 and i spot my landing. at that moment i litteraly yelled out "fuck." my tips were going at a complete nose dive toward the ground, and my body was about parallel with the landing. i braced for impact, and it wasnt to bad at first. i laid there cursing myself for being so stupid. then i realized the pain was not subsiding. my stomach felt like it was going to explode, and i had the air knocked out of me. i knew stomach pain that lasted taht long was not good at all. and this was seriously the worst pain ive ever had.

so i skiied to the bottom, and caught a shuttle. the driver heard me swearing and screaming in pain and said he was going to take me to ski patrol. i got in there, ripped my gear off, laid on the closest table, swearing as loud as ive ever heard myself in between my short choppy breaths. i couldnt even speak to them. breathing and speaking felt like stabbing myseld at the time. they called an ambulance and rushed me to the nearest hospital. they said my vitals were too low, and i probably needed serious help, so i got to a local hospital, then was life flighted to buffalo. here they took a few CT scans and broke the bad news to me. i had a ruptured spleen, a broken rib, and was internally bleeding really bad. a resevoir of blood had formed around my stomach too so i couldnt eat without pretty much dyingg in pain. so i was in the intensive care unit for 5 straight days, not able to get up for anything, which included pissing and shitting. (bed pans suck ass) but the only good thing about all this is that i got morphine EVERY DAY, and im on lortab now. but then i spent 2 more days on bed rest at the hospital before being realesed. and this whole time i had an IV, no food. docs told me i was out of ALL activity for 3 months. any strain or impact on the spleen region will break off the blood clot that is holding it together, and i will most likely die of internal bleeding before i get to a hospital.

needless to say this was the worst experience of my life. i spent everyday reading and looking at freeskier, pretty much crying of pain and out of self pity that i was out for a whole season (doesnt help that we got 23 inches of snow last night). but i will be back this summer at camp of champs, which is my parents gift to me cause they feel so bad. so ns kill it for me the rest of this season, and ill be spending most of my time on this site.

So sorry to hear that. That is like my worst night-mare. I feel so sorry. Shit. Wow. Get better, and I'll think about this the next time I bitch about a little boot pain.

Get Better! Feel for you.

ahhh dude that sucks. im sorry to hear about that. get better soon. one thing that you could do is save money and go to a ski camp in the summer, so you get some skiing in this year

omfg...homie....=,(...

Shit happens bro, honestly. As long as you can heal up well and get yourself back on your feet, thats all that matters. There will be plenty of years to ski down the road. Accidents can and will happen, but we need to be aware of what is safe and what isnt sometimes. The human body is strong and very high tech, you are going to need to help rebuild it though mang. It could be worse, you could have lost alimb or gotten a really bad concussion so look at it that way. Dont cry about missing the season man, its not that bad. Years pass by quickly and you have all this time to rebuild yourself and be even stronger. I hope you learned a lesson from all this at least, i dont know what it is, hopefully you can figure it out.

And honestly if you get to go to summer camp thats sick as fuck, i swear I learn more skiing in the summer than winter as far as park riding, soft snow and sun is just dope lol. I ll look forward to your posts guye on NS, i been wondering where you've been now that u posted.

Be thankful you are alive bro!

hope you have a speedy recovery. i hate to hear stories of fellow nsers in pain because of losing their season.

sorry man, hope you improve quickly and kill it at camp!

once again, i think that that kid who was bitching about his season being over from a pulled binding should read this.

wow that really sucks bro. hopefully you will be fully healed in three months and get back out there and kill it. like someone else said, there are always more seasons to go skiing, and it sounds like you are lucky that the internal bleeding didnt kill you. good luck with the recovery man

damn that sucks man, i hope you somehow get healthy in like a day, that would be fuckn sweet. i remember falling and dislocating my shoulder and was out for 1 and a half weeks and that was horrible. atleast u get to ski in the summer time

Yeah, the time your out will go fast...

Just take it easy and dont try and do any activity before 3 months becasue it will just get worse.

Just imagine what would have happened if you didnt get any help in the first place...

my bro burst his spleen last year in january and was in icu for a week. he healed up and went to windells, then proceeded to get on the burton team...so think positive man, shit will get better!

that really sucks...but thank god the shuttle driver insisted he take you to patrol. If he didnt you may not even be here to write your article. I wish you a speedy recovery.

I'll recall your story everytime I complain for stupid stuff..

man what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...

Best wishes for you dude...

I broke a few ribs playing hockey and ruptured my spleen on a bmx bike but i couldnt imagine doing both at the same time. Sucks dude.

Ps. sell me those lortabs.

Thats fucking crazy dude i'm sorry. Get better and have fun at camp. Seriously that is my worst nightmare like i've had dreams about crashing that bad and waking up in a cold pool of sweat.

ahh im really sorry to hear that..that blows a big one

its hard, but keep your spirits up, and get better quick

hate to hear about shit like this

good vibes goin out to you

Hey man, that really sucks.

While you have time, check out this book, if you want.

Paths to God by Ram Dass.

I'm not religious or anything, I just found it to really change the way I thought about the world. You might wanna at least check it out.

Anyways, good luck man.

fuckin shit story, i feel bad for you. whatever the fuck you do, don't go out on the mountain before everyone says you can, as you say if you fuck up again you are not going to be so lucky. Incidents with the police are always a joke, well in europe they are, dont know in america!!

just think how much you can blaze and spend on ns. Get better soon mate.
