My school on complete lockdown today, cops swarm the building

They're actually not allowed to do that. You can be searched incident to detention for officer safety / safety of others, but if the search reveals only soft packets they're not allowed to look at that stuff. That's actually the distinction; if something's solid it might be weapon, but if it's a baggy of blow or something it can't and they can't do shit. Cops always trying to get around the law... see if you kids had any money you could hire lawyers and beat that shit.
 
I think someone said it already, but when on school grounds they have the right to search you any time for anything for no reason whatsoever. its pretty gay but unless you plan on lighting up during school just leave it in the car. sucks about the one school though bringing drugs dogs in to parking lot would be gay as well

Actually yes I am in college, engineering to be specific, and a masters in business admin is respectable. but i dont see you running a billion dollar business

s.8 Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure.

now i dont know much about laws in canada and stuff but can't the kids take that to court and fight it? because they were searched for something else... or are they already fucked overall cuz it was till found?

nice move for the kid that hid it in his sock and didnt get caught tho! haha lucky, but next time be smart about it and dont risk bring it to school, even tho im guilty of such a thing i was kinda scared haha

i don't know if anyone has said this because i haven't taken the time to read the entire thread, but why in the fuck wouldn't you crotch the shit? ive been searched by the cops with a bag under my nuts and they've never found anything. i smuggled a half thru an international airport and got searched by security and they didn't find anything. (yeah, smart i know) its really not that hard. i'm not gonna preach about pot because obviously im a big fan, but if you're gonna put yourself in a situation like that, at least have enough fucking intelligence to not get caught. its not rocket surgery.

See that's incredibly dumb, because there are totally different rules for what constitutes a "reasonable" search in an airport. With national security on the line they can do more or less whatever they want to you, so you're lucky the people searching you didn't take the time to do it properly. In a school, they just can't perform a strip search because they feel like it. They have to make an arrest first, which requires reasonable grounds referable to actual evidence (not just a hunch), which requires that they have something tangible on you BEFORE searching you.

It's easier just to not break the law, sure, but Cops aren't allowed to break the law either, and the constitution is a much bigger and more important law than drug crime provisions.

our whole school went into lockdown after a tray of muffins under a stairwell had a note on it that said "this is a bomb" kid was never found out.
 
to all you guys saying "why would you bring weed to school anyways." well, this is vancouver, b.c. we are talking about here. weed is pretty much a common item found in the backpacks and pockets of students here, we smoke a lot. and about "crotching it," its pretty hard to pack a bubbler, pipe, weed, and grinder in your pants and pass it off as your penis.
 
break your shit up at home. learn to twist. no bubbler. no grinder. and you can still get shit done. without your entire fucking tool kit. you deserve whatever you get if you're walkin around like that. use your head.
 
that sucks. the worst thing is that the person who called it in probably thought that it would be an easy way to get out of school, but if you were there till like 5:30 then that person probably felt like an idiot for doing that after it all.
