My School Is Going On Strike? Wtf?

So i guess that my high school is going on strike because the teachers aren't getting benefits and the district won't give them a contract to work under..

but...what the fuck am I to expect? I've heard all types of stuff like I may not even get back to school until Novermber 14th, when I am supposed to start August 24th..Anyone's school ever been on strike before or know about this stuff and how long they can do it?
 
my school did this once. we were out for a couple of weeks. expect to make up that time during breaks though.
 
Have fun not having a spring break, happened here once and we were out for like 3 weeks but they fuckin took away our holidays
 
This happened when i was in school for about 3 weeks. enjoy it while you can because they gotta push the curriculum upon you alot quicker throughout the rest of the year.
 
never gad a strike but theres a shit storm brewing at my high school because they just built and its super unorganized
 
i want my thanksgiving / christmas / spring break. and sped up curriculum...YES. even more fun. fuck school /rant
 
I would be so pissed off. It dicks all the kids right over, thats who they are there for in the first place.

Do you go to private school? Because I'm pretty sure that they weren't allowed to take away public school's christmas/spring break and we just had to fit the whole curriculum in a shorter period of time. It didn't seem like a big deal at all... I never noticed a heavier workload (although that WAS the year my school decided that exams weren't beneficial so they cancelled most of them, who knows if we ever finished the curriculum). Only really sucked for science because our teacher sent us an email saying we would have a big test the first day back despite the fact that all of our textbooks were locked in the school.
 
because hes going to have to make up that school sometime, most likely during winter/spring, therefore not having as much time for skiing. that would fucking SUCK
 
if your graduating this year, that blows, if not, you'll be fine. You will most likely get the normal holidays off(thanks giving, christmas, spring break ect...), just fewer/no proffesional development days off. atleast
 
The teachers at my high school didn't have a contract for a while, but they still worked. Every thursday they would all dress in black, wear this button that said "No contract, Still working, Still caring" and go in when the bell rung for first period instead of being inside already. They never went on strike though.
 
same happened to me. You get literally no winter break, mid winter break, or spring break. We had 2 days for mid winter break instead of a week, one week in winter break instead of 2 weeks, and luckily spring break was only taken off by a day or so, but still, it sucked ass.
 
the american school system is such shit. teachers should be treated so much better than they are, after all they educate our youth and the youth is the future so hey! lets fuck our country by pumping out a bunch of fucking retards! good idea!
 
I would do this too. I wouldn't fuck around with my education. That could really screw you over in the future
 
my school went on strike once. our highschool went from grade 9-12, it was my summer between grade 8 and 9 (so, my summer between elementary and highschool). They went on strike at the end of summer, extended into the school year by three weeks... so essentially, I got an extra three weeks of summer before having to start highschool.

Within those three weeks I smoked pot for the first time, which resulted in 12 years of smoke weed every day.

How 'bout that.
 
we had our teachers strike once, got off school for two weeks and had the most beautiful weather...it was in the spring which meant they couldnt take away a break, and we hadnt had too many snowdays so those were counted as snowdays and we only went 3 days longer
