My Road Test Is Tomorow

I have been practicing my parallel parking and I know I can do everything they want me to do. Im worried I will mess up because of me getting nervous. Any pointers or stories on what to do so I wont be too nervous. Also tips on what to do on the road test would be great too. I live in NY for the record so NY drivers help would be great. Thanks.

Just be sure to remember all the silly things. Like a full 3 second stop at a stop sign. Chances are they will only make you parallel park behind one car. Not in between two. Just don't act like some hot shot teen who thinks he's an amazing driver. Don't be tense. Just go with it. Do what they ask you to do. You'll be fine.

just take your time man. my driving person was really chill. i just rolled on the curb a little and he goes try that again. i was so relieved and then he gave me a perfect score. and i live in NY also

just take a couple extra seconds before you do stuff so you know your not making a mistake. just make sure you think of what mirrors you have to check and stuff when he makes you 3 point turn and parallel park. not all the cops doing the driving tests are dicks, the cop i took it with was just talking about movies and shit with me the whole time. just try to be comfortable and relaxed and its easy

I took mine after a snow storm, and they hadn't plowed the roads well, so i get a few points off for not putting on my blinkers while doing the hill start and stop. I didn't think i had to, because i couldn't see the side of the road, and i just stayed in the lane.

It must be the state he lives in, but some kid I know failed for driving to slow, he was probally going 23 in a 30. And while your driving how often did you guys check your mirrors.

Just be sure to check your side mirrors when pulling away from the curb. Don't consistently check them, they will think you're paranoid :P

Use them when parallel parking and making your 3-point turn.

Word of advice: A rolling stop at a stop sign DOES NOT count as stopping. Haha. I did it three times in a row and still managed to pass.

When I drive with my mom I probally check them once every five minutes but I will check them more often on the test. I really want to pass this test though because last year I had a ride to school but now he graduated so if I dont pass im gonna have to ride the fucking bus.

Check your mirrors often, but not too often. This will let the instructor know that you are aware of what is going on around you. For example, if an emergency vehicle is coming up behind you. I check my mirrors every 2-3 minutes.

only thing i messed up on was i did the turn around using a side road wrong. I drove into the side road and then backed out. You're supposed to drive past the side road, back into it, then go. I knew that i just hadnt done it since drivers ed so i have no idea what she was talking about, so i just turned into the road she pointed at, then salvaged.

just use your blinkers. alot of kids forget to and they always fail when they do unless the person scoring your test is chill.

im in MA and they would stick you with a state trooper and then a sponsor. the cop would be the guy sitting next to you with a clip board. i think that recently changed though

haha wow. i failed twice...and also failed the time i passed. wisconsin has one of the strictest GDL licensing programs in the country, so our road tests are super hard. 20 off is failing.

the first time i got 35 off, because i was driving in a place i had never driven before 2 hours away from my house (only spot available) so i failed. that was understandable to me...lots of people fail their first time.

the second time i took it right by my house. that time i drove literally almost perfect...i only got 5 points off..but apparently i "took a turn too fast" and automatically failed. i almost murdered the lady who was testing me.

the last time i had an actually nice tester and i got 16 off and finally passed. i never want to goto the DMV ever again

just relax and drive, youll do fine

Make sure your car is off when the person gets in, say 'hello, how are you?'. Make sure they have their belt on,(some assholes actually don't put their belt on and fail you) then start up when they tell you to and leave when they tell you to, be ready for anything, I had to parallel park 3 seconds after pulling out of the start point. At a stop sign make sure you make a complete stop BEFORE the line, not on it and then slowly pull out and when it is safe, commit. ANY time you make a move use your blinker, check your mirrors and look behind you, example: 3 point turn- Come to a complete stop with your blinker on, check the road behind you, make the turn. Blinker again, check, then go, then blinker check and go one more time. Go a bit under the speed limit, it is easy to speed when you are concentrating on all of the other things you have to know. If the speed limit changes, for example 35 to 30, make sure you are going 30 before the sign telling you to do so, and if it goes 30 to 35, go 35 after the sign. If you have a standard, they will go a bit easier on you because it is more difficult, but expect (it is not for sure) a stop-and-go on a hill without rolling back a ton. That is about all I can think of now.

just go slow, and be nice. Mine was money, i even changed lanes in an intersection and the lady still passed me cus i had good air conditioning and the fact that i had to parralell park in my moms big ass suburban

just be cautious and remember to yeild at green lights when you turn left, but it doesnt really matter for me anyways,

40 on my lap dats why dey took my license back....

fucking 2 months a 3 weeks to go

make sure you look every direction possible when turning or backing up and make sure he sees you do it too, some are assholes so don't make any stupid mistakes

So when your doing your 3 point turn you should signal right to get to the side of the road, the signal left, then when your backing up you dont have to then when pulling away signal in the direction your going in? Does that sound right?

1. go under the speed limit except on the freeway

2. signal for EVERYTHING

3. dont roll through stop signs

4. DONT DRIVE ONE-HANDED

Yours won't be as bad as mine. It was snowing way hard and the wind was like 30mph. That was the hardest thing to drive in and I still passed so I'm pretty your you can pass on a dry sunny day. Also completely stop when turning right on a red light.

if your at a light and you catch the eyes of the driver next to you you must race them, if you dont you will fail

I stopped in the right lane completely with my left blinker on, checked the road, made a left turn as far as I could, stopped, signaled right, checked, backed up, signaled left, checked and pulled away. I am making it sound harder than it is, I am sure you know how to 3-point turn, just signal and check every time you maneuver.

Look left and right quickly as you go through green lights. I got points off for that on my test..how lame is that? But apparently you need to see if someone is running a red or something.

word i haven't taken my license test yet (i can't until nov 18) but whenever i do my driving lessons i always smoke a bowl or 2 before.. makes me way more calm and a way better driver, you should try that.

hahahahahaha i remember my road test. the guy that was w/me smelled like potatoe salad and we were stuck in rush hour traffic for like 15 minutes just sitting and not moving and he didnt say one word to me the entire time except for where to turn n shit.

i got dinged for doing a calofornia roll at a stop sing (i swear it felt like i waited a minute) and not ever stopping at the white lines in the intersections. i'd pull up to the cornors. other than that it went well.

I have had my permit for two months.

And I took it this morning and I failed, I was really nervous and when I was pulling away from the curb I hit my windshield wipers instead of the blinker. Then I messed up on my parallel parking but he gave me another chance and I did fine. He also told me I cut in to soon on a left hand turn. And then I made a stupid mistake at a turn and I just sat there waiting for cars to go by even though they had a stop sign too. So overall I fucked up pretty bad, now im pissed.

haha this kid at my school had that happen to him, except when he told the person kindly to put on the seatbelt, she said dont worry about it. then he refused to go untill she had the belt on (thinking the instructor was trying to intentionally fail him). he ended up failing haha

just pretend your a really old lady and drive like one. go really slow, extra catious, be aware of your surroundings. just dont go for your test in lowell, they'll fail you indefinitley.

dont sweat it man, just wait another month maybe 2 ( i know it seems long) and they will pass you, i waited 4 months and the guy never even checked my parallel park or anything, he just turned on my radio and said drive, i had a really cool guy

wtf where do you live? in MA you have to have your permit for 6 months just to apply for a license test, i've had my permit for like 3 months, gotta wait till novemeber.

I live in NY. You have to wait 6 months to get your real license but if you take your road test before the 6 months is up you can get your junior limited which means you can only drive to school and work.

And for the other person that said go really slow that didnt work out. I slowed down because I was going over some railroad tracks and the go said "Your going to slow you can get rear ended." The guy was a complete ass only looked me in the eyes once he was probally scared I was gonna pop him in the grill piece for flunking me.

You've only had yopur permit 2 months?

As harsh as this may sound, but I am glad you didn't pass. If you were that nervous about being able to drive properly, you are not comfortable enough to react properly in an emergency situation let alone drive regulary.

Spend some more time with your permit. Get better at driving so it's natural, and easy, and then go try again.

Good luck!

That's exactly what I thought when I read that.

My little brother just got his license. Granted he has had his permit for 6 months. I let him drive my car the other day. Whoa, quite the experience. Not that he was bad, but just stiff, and unnatural.

Our people are way chilll, but you have to have your permit for a whole damn year...

ITs soo easy to pass though. just think of all the dumbasses in the world that manage get their lisences.

While were on the subject, isnt it funny how you need a lisence to drive, but anyone can have kids?

it really isnt hard at all, make sure to look left and right while driving through green lights, they marked me off 2 points for that, and make sure to pull up to the white line, i did fine on parallel and backing in, but that damn white line got me

Im scheudueling another test tomorow. I hope I have the same guy so I know what to expect but if not im just going to try and not be so nervous.

Any tips you guys have for when you get nervous?

I really dont get nervous too often either but this just wrecked me. Only things that have made me really nervous lately were my job interview and this.
