today during lab afterschool for bio, one of the trials we had to do was take our resting heartbeat (beats per minute), then take our haertbeat after one full minute of jumping jacks, since we previously did things like this in bio and my teacher wouldnt believe that it was that high (she told me i mustv been counting wrong) i told her i got 103 for resting, and she again didnt believe me so she took it and she started shaking her head and she was like "its 108" and gave me a blank stare. so then i took it after doing one minute of full jumping jacks and i got 177. is this like really bad? whats your guys'?

and for the record im 15

your bodies growing and your hearts just gota play a little catch up till it grows so its pumping hard? idk thats my only guess i bet it will lower once ur through puberty

If your heart actually has to beat 100+ per minute at rest just to keep you alive, you're in bad shape.

Someone with a healthy cardiovascular system's heart has to work about half as much to keep them alive, and has much more potential for extertion to fuel increased activity. I am sorry.

holy shit...mines like 65ish. my brother played college football and he was having chest pains and they monitered his heart beat while he was sleeping and it got down to 28 bpm. rediculously low

You should probably talk to a doctor. 108 is really high resting. When I was running cross country and in really good shape my active heartbeat for a regular workout was only like 130-140 or so, and I would only ever hit 180 or so like you said you were at when we were doing all out speed workouts designed to put us on the ground. My resting heartbeat personally is around 50-60 bpm but it fluctuates from person to person. 108 is still pretty high though.

My cross country coach in high school had a student once with a heart rate of 17 bpm when he was resting. There was nothing wrong with him at all either. If your heart beat goes below 20 bpm they can declare you legally dead. Pretty crazy.

I had a really high resting heartbeat when I was in middle school. I'm only eighteen now, but it's gone down a whole lot since then. I guess it's something you can grow out of when you're body changes a lot.

well when i was in my prime last year during cc ski season my resting was like 40-50 and not its like 60 ish maybe. but we trained in like 140 for anerobic workouts and we'd rest till 120 then do it again. fun stuff.

I've never measured mine. actually, I probably have but I forget how. I'm too lazy to google. someone tell me how.

I have alot of things wrong with my heart. I'm not going to go into detail but it leaks and my bpm is 50 something. Yours is double mine and my heart sucks ass.

i just measure mine sitting down (not really resting) and it was 55. I wanna see what is is after I wake up. I think that's pretty good for a person that's 6'4" 230 lbs

Biggest lie ever.

Miguel Indurain has the lowest recorded resting heart rate of 28 or 29. He was a cyclist on the tour de france

i just got 58, 100 deffinatly isnt healthy. although if you are nervouse or have even done any physical activity previously it can affect it quite a bit.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I always thought that you're supposed to take your resting heartrate as soon as you wake up in the morning?

Taking it mid-day, even if you're just relaxing will not give you an accurate reading.

yo i feel like if there was anything wack about your heartrate your doctor would tell you during your checkups. but at the same time i think thats wicked high. our crew workouts bring us to active rest at 130-140. im sticking with my first post and theory

he was a beast, armstrong of the past, it's a shame no one has ever heard of him.

but anyway, this just means you're super-stoked all the time, no big deal.

heart rates can be higher around your age. my freshman year mine was in the high 90's and that was during soccer season when i was in shape...mines 51 right now and im so out of shape...just keep an eye on it

You might be counting wrong, one beat consists of 2 little pumps, and sometimes you can feel the 2 beats, so you might be counting the 2 pumps. So really it would be 56. Which is not good, but not horrible.

if you have someone hammer on your chest above your heart it should fix it. get a friend to hit you with a bludgeon of some sort.

i have a medical condition where i was born with a heart that is to large for my body.

my resting heat beat is 135.

there fore in times of high stress and activity i have to smoke to lower it which is not to bad lung cancer when im 55 or death when running.

cant drink coffee or redbull. but other then that pretty normal

agreed.

but 108 isnt so bad at a young age, but still bring it up at your next checkup. and maybe take up jogging and lay off the hagendaaz

For some reason I realy doubt the kid with the really low hearbeat because if he was ever hooked up to a heart monitor, it'd go flat line. He would have the record and possibly make some medical magazine.

Wouldn't the machine only flatline with no beats? Cause ya know, i'm pretty sure it will register your heart beating even if it isn't very often.

you have to do more than 1 test, your heart rate bounces around a lot, it might be higher or lower sometimes doing the same exact thing you just did

you cant accuratly check your resting heart rate at that time of the day. their are alot of factors that can contribute to a high heart rat during the middle of the day. stress, activity, tests etc. to get a correct resting rate you have to check it right after you wake up in the morning. I had the same problem because mine was 95 and in the morning it was 50
