My repainted longboard

i thought the graphic on my board was horrible when i bought it, so i decided to repaint. i chose the very common bob marley stencil and thought it would look sick in black

heres some pics

TO be honest while the execution seems to have been done well I'm not a fan of the design.

As conair said, why not do something original and different rather then fall into society for what everyone does.

It seems to me that you posted your board on here expecting to get rave reviews about how a monochromatic picture of Bob Marley on a long board is supposed to awe us. If you are gonna use Bob maybe do a Rasta fade of colors so that he is different colors or do a fade of completely different colors (like Hot PInk, Neon green, and Baby blue)

You seem like you want us to be all over your greatness for a very bland design. it's not like it's hard to cut out a picture and spray paint something

Just my observation.

1. i never claimed it to be great.

2. i wanted it stay simple. i liked the black on natural wood better than going emo and doing hot pink and neon green

3. rasta is so over rated its not even funny, its kind of lost its meaning. most of the people on NS associate with its colors not its roots and deeper meaning

4. i'm happy with the way it turned out, i never expected any rave reviews, i just posted it up to show people what i did. it was fun little project and killed some time in this boring summer.

I'm glad you are Happy, that is what matters most in life and it's why I don't ever really post what I do up with paint (I'm currently painting up my Balance Board), I don't really care what others think about it

don't go off on people when they criticize it, it makes it seem that you were expecting us to see it as some great peace of art.

I wouldn't consider bright colors really Emo???

You got me on the Rasta comment.

I too am a fan of simple designs.

my friend painted his loaded vanguard, as seen here i think he put on a clear coat, which is why it looks a bit splotchy. He put on some purple orangutang wheels and these limited edition pink trucks, and it looks real sick. ill try and find a pic of it with those components

^^ sweet !i'll get some pics of my find, i got an old wooden wakeboard and am planning on making a longboard/carver out of it :)

here it is, my project and im just gonna leave it as it is, nice 'n retro :D

as in centered where you want it. before you drill, you need to make sure both trucks are the exact same distance away from the center and edges of the board, as well as ensuring the trucks are on straight, otherwise it will be beyond squirrelly. Maybe take it to a skate shop to see if, for whatever reason, they have a mounting jig. ski shops have jigs for bindings, and since it is the same concept, you may be able to use a binding jig to mount them. otherwise you will need a ruler, straight edge, pencil, and a whole lot of patience haha

thanks, ill keep that in mind!i didn't realize trucks needed to be lined out perfectly, it makes sense tough! I'll have a talk with my local skateshop, thanks for the feedback ;) !

yeah man, no problem. let me know if you need any more help or clarification. Oh, also thing about using a grinder or sander to make some wheel wells to avoid wheelbite, or cut them in with a bandsaw.
