My Reel 2017

you got some nice shots in there. but no natural audio and a plain jane song makes the whole thing feel really flat. I'd group the shots more cohesively too, it's on shuffle mode right now, by doing that I bet you could trim it down 40%
 
Idk how to explain exctly but it seems very random. Like theres no logical progression to the shots they're just kind of there. Like words in a sentence that have been randomly jumbled. It looks like you've got some really cool action shots. The great thing to me about sports clips is that you can easily convey strong emotion with them. I'd start with some calmer shots and use music that builds to a peak and as the song hits it's climax the shots start to be a little more intense. Also it looks like you have the potential for some awesome audio with your shots. Crowds and things like that. If you can somehow sinc up the football and basketball shots to the radio calls of those plays that would be a whole new element. Im sure if you have access from LU's athletic dept. they'd let you use the clips.

Great looking shots though. Really cool
 
Thanks for the input.... The shots may seem jumbled to some but they are placed in a certain way to begin with. I didn't want all my action/sports shots all in a row and to put all the football with football and everything, I wanted to break up some of those action shots. At the beginning I have building shots, a landscape shot, players preparing, some sliders to showcase students working, each shot has a meaning.

Once the song starts building I begin putting in those more exciting shots and once the song is at its peak come the skiing and big sports plays. As for nat audio, I wanted to keep it more dedicated to the footage, not many reels use audio in them I did in my last couple and just wanted to focus on the shots.

How'd you end up with that gig btw? Seems like a lot of fun getting to shoot sports. Have you ever seen any of CU Boulder's football stuff? It's fucking insane. The Rise is a great series. My school has done some award winning stuff as well. Look up Gamecock Video on twitter. We have some cool stuff if you're into that kind of thing

Oh, OK, well none is that is working. Maybe have that text explanation scroll past at the head of the reel so people know what you were going for.

LU had an opening in their marketing department for video, applied, interviewed and luckily got the job. I have a big background in sports, in college I worked for my schools athletic department, worked for an NFL team and a smaller company that did high school sports highlights.

I usually am the one who takes the lead on a lot of intro videos and ticket spots for sports. I love CU's stuff and Georgia has some outstanding stuff as well.
 
Shots look decent but they are in a random order.

Most shots are too long.

I don't like your grading. (but that's a personal thing)

The music is boring, just get some HYPE EDM even if you don't like it the pace and energy will work in your favour.

If you show musicians make sure the music matches, it doesn't, at all.

Your reel lacks bang and pop.
 
that was tight man! definitely would've been better to have more natural audio or audio from the clips, the racing and skiing clips had some there and it fit very well
 
Looks pretty good. My biggest thought it that it gets redundant, at a point I feel like I'm not seeing anything new with the football and rowing and violinist shots at least. I think it would be stronger if you cut down on the redundant shots but lengthened your stronger shots to fill the same amount of time.
