My recent edit from Hood

hope you guys like it. It's a promo for this kid who's 14 years old and kills it. shot over a few days in july and august. I usually fail at white balance, as portrayed in the video, but I'm starting to get the hang of setting kelvin properly on the hill. So if you're gonna say something about my colors, it's not that I suck at grading, it's that I sucked at setting WB and exposure.

Hope you guys like it

Good job! I thought everything was good other than the colors being inconsistent like you said. Some shots are fine but there are some where the snow is kind of pinkish and I noticed a couple shots where the blacks were kind of crushed. Other than that great job.

and back to colors.

When i film at hood, I just leave the WB at automatic and overexpose everything by one stop. In post your blacks will tend to require little adjustment and your whites should be money. I can get away with just a little boost to contrast and maybe a mini push towards blue.

getting good at setting white balance on hill is important, but remember that it can always be very easily fixed in post.

are you editing with final cut? i generally use the eye dropper tool for white balance. doesn't always work perfectly, but a lot of the time it gets you pretty close.

Yeah the one time I tried the eye dropper it turned my snow into a piss yellow haha. But next time I fuck up on WB I'll try it out.

Thanks for all comments guys!
