My Problems Here At JOSS

Hey guys.. Just wanted to address some negative comments about me that I've seen floating around involving me skiing over here at JOSS. It frustrates me to see that people think I'm simply being lazy or just blowing this competition off...

Here are some examples:

"it pisses me off that michael clarke took one of the two spots and

basically has not been skiing at all. A lot of other young riders would

have killed for a chance at these features, but clarke took the spot

and seams like he isnt even trying. He has just about skipped

everything so far."

"I'm with you JGP. For a lot of kids this is the chance of a lifetime,

and Clarke's just blowing it off like it's nothing. I'm sure theres

kids who deserve it and want it much more than him. Otherwise JOSS is

shaping up to be the greatest event in the history of skiing, it's

unreal so far"

"he missed a couple of days due to not having skis? thats the worst

excuse i have ever heard. yea, he lost his luggage. hes at fucking

JOSS! borrow skis, demo skis, buy skis, i dont care! get out there on

the slopes!"

Try to put yourselves in my shoes... I flew to Sweden only to have the airlines lose my bags. In terms of using a found pair of skis here there are a few problems. Being a Salomon rider its necessary that I'm on their product. Furthermore the other Salomon riders here (Sammy and Simon) are midgets and use shorter skis than me. Not to mention that I didn't even have my own boots either. The possibility of finding some rental Salomon stuff is an option until you look at the features we're hitting over here. I can honestly say Jon has created a collection of the biggest and best made jumps I've ever seen. Think about putting on some foreign skis/boots and trying to hit some of the biggest jumps in the world.

I finally got my stuff and had it for a few features where I was able to get some shots. However, on the Aerial jump I had a freak accident cutting my hand on my edge all the way to the bone. If anyone has ever had a bad cut they'll understand what I mean when I say it fucking hurts! Not to mention that I can't even bend my hand due to the placement of the laceration. Believe me when I say I'd much rather be skiing than sitting around and watching. Anyway I'm just trying to take good care of my hand and make sure it heals for Orage Masters/Level 1 Spring Shoots. I don't want to rush back into skiing here just to re-open my hand and make it worse because I was in too much of a hurry to get back on snow. One thing I have learned from my friends mistakes in skiing is not to rush too quickly back from injuries. Anyway just wanted to let you guys know what I'm thinking. Believe me I am SO FRUSTRATED myself and would LOVE to be skiing. Hopefully you guys can understand where I'm coming from. I just want to continue skiing this spring and not have this injured hand be a problem. Everyone is killing it over here and expect big things from this event! Thanks for reading...

ya man no hate that would suck losing all your shit. but dont they sell solomon shit around there somewhere i mean im sure you could have had them comp the store for whatever you took. the boots though is the thing i would be worried about. hitting shit like that you need your perfect boot that you already have broken in. gl in orage and with the level 1 shit homie.
 
No worries brotha you can't take any gripes on here too seriously. You gave an awesome explanation of whats up, even though you didn't have to. The NS community really appreciates it when pros go out of their way to let us all know whats up. Props.
 
did they put your hand in a cast? i remember one of my friends cut himself badly with a knife on his forearm the next day or so he was in a full hardshell cast.

good luck with it healing up though.
 
Yo man, so many people say so many things on this website that are just simply so uninformed that you can't even consider them remotely legitimate.

I just had an airline lose my bags for one of the days I was out west, and I had to rent these Salomon boots and I was extremely diminished in my skiing abilities. You just can't ski in boots that aren't yours. Everything is mad sketchy cause you can't control your skis right, I had to look at soo much shit and say to myself " damn I wish I had my boots so I could hit that."

And yeah..getting your hand sliced open kinda inhibits the skiing..ahaha..
 
Stuff happens and I know your the most frustrated about it. Don't listen to the kids on here there gonna hate either way. Your earned your spot just like a lot of the other riders and injuries are a part of the game you just have to deal with it. Can't wait to see the stuff you throw down at the Orage and spring shoots.
 
I understand about the lost luggage a true bummer. but dude a cut hand what are u a 5 year old girl? I bet anyone who has ever worked a legit construction, oil, or any physical job has had much worse and I know for a fact they didn't take the next day off because it hurt. come on dude ur at joss tuff it out.

What was said made perfect sense though...I hate skiing on anything other than my own stuff that is broken in (boots, skis, etc...), Hope you have some dope shots from spring sessions though Clarke.
 
You are severely retarded. He didnt cut his finger with a piece of paper, he clearly stated that it was CUT DOWN TO THE BONE at a point in his hand where if he bent it, it would tear open. Kindly go fuck yourself.
 
cuts down to the bone are definately pussy shit, and so is not skiing so that the cut won't open back up so that you can go to one of the bigger comps of the year and some of the bigger shoots of the year.

well my friend 3 years ago i watched my friend fall on his 1st U.S. open run and severely slice his back open, he went to the hospital got it stitched up with like 20 some stitches and went back and did his secnond run, and then did his pipe runs the next day.

 
Good to see this cleared up. I was pretty ambivalent before, but yeah I didnt know the cut was so bad, definitely wouldnt be skiing on that thing. Looking forward to seeing you throw down in the future~
 
Clarke is a class act and I can say just from the stuff I saw him throw at Keystone the days before he went out there that when he does feel healthy enough to start skiing again some very sick footage will come. did you hit the freestyle kicker? I saw a 9 from someone in a yellow and green that I thought was you?
 
i know its blasphemy for you level 1 guys to ski without poles and risk upsetting the berman god, but seriously when i injured my hand and started skiing without poles it cut down the risk factor of a re injury alot, so thats my recomendation, but fuck the haters dont pay attention to em, just keep killing it when the hand heals
 
mike Eu team manager or swedish distributor could have hooked it for you, if the team manager will call a shop and say they will replace the stuff usually the shop will do it for you , just a thought , i cut the top of my hand with an edge, dont ask me how, all i remember was landing on my hand and saying 'i just landed on my hand how did i do that?' and the edge cut the top of it and it fucking hurt, sliced right through my glove
 
thats too bad. I still donjt see why you couldnt just buy new boots and skis. but im sure you have your reasons.

It takes skill finesse and brains to be able to hit a 900 foot step down going mach chicken down a skinny path. Your rig pig freinds would probably not shred either if they cut themselves down to the bone.

Let this be a lesson to the kids... detune your edges alot! or lose a hand.

your buddy did a run at the us open??? what the fuck does that have anything to do with 90 foot stepdowns, and JOI Invitational style booter, and massive aeirlist jumps? don't even begin to compare the challenges of what is going on at JOSS to some kid skiing the us open course. if clarke was healthy enough to ski, he would. and to the morons who said to get some other equipment, are you fucking kidding? you want mike to hit those features in a pair of boots that aren't his? none of you are good enough of athletes to even know what hitting jumps those size feel like, let alone what type of confidence you need to have in your equipment in order to do it. they are flirting with very serious injury/death on those features and you don't fuck with that when your shit is not dialed in.

 
There is no way he fell on one run, went to the hospital, and made his second run that is impossible.
 
The fact that athletes have to come on here to clear up bullshit like this is completely unnecessary. You are not in Are involved with this group of badass skiers, photographers, and videographers. You don't know what is going on regardless of if you watch the vids, read the blogs, and think you know how things in the industry and other parts of the ski world work, so shut the fuck up.

Sucks you don't have the opportunity to kill all of these features Clarke. I'm sure the stuff that you have gotten to shoot out there looks sick!

 
tell me this was your friend hitting 90 foot step downs and hitting probably the biggest jumps built in the world right now. I don't think so. You don't hit jumps that big if you are injured because that could mean the difference of life and death.
 
That was the point I was trying to get across as well but you said it much better than I. People bitch and moan about shit they have no idea about. Its absurd.
 
I now also understand more- thanks for addressing and you certainly deserved the invite.

US airlines lost my shit on the way back to slc after xmas vacation in NH...I filed all the correct stuff, did everyting legit...60 days later they told me they will give me 250 dollars for the 1500 dollars worth of stuff lost - skis, pants, jackets, goggle, ...

stay on top of them, clarke, so you can get some style of reimbursment
 
i've worked "legit construction" and if someone sustained a cut down to the bone on their hand, they'd be doing paperwork or seeking worker's compensation until it healed. stop being such a fucking faggot and get off his back. what you're saying is absolutely retarded.
 
you don't really think about it but you ski edges can really fuck you up! it's happened to me no fun! sorry clarke where's the next episode of RTC?
