Michael MurphyBy: Kellen MooreA Watauga High School assistant principal resigned Friday after being charged with driving while impaired early that morning.
Michael Patrick Murphy, 35, of 479 Kellwood Drive Extension, Boone, was charged with driving while impaired after performing "poorly" on field sobriety tests and receiving a 0.14 on a blood alcohol concentration test, reports state.
Murphy did not return a telephone message left Tuesday afternoon.
Murphy started as assistant principal at Watauga in August, said principal Michael Wyant, who refused to comment any further on the matter, stating that it was a personnel issue.

*Now in my opinion i think my principal has something to hide. Also our school is trying to get his job back because he moved out here from cali and is shit out of luck right now we got a big petition going around the school. you guys have any ideas that could help. hes a nice guy and didnt go hard on you with punishments just gave you the rule book detentions and iss's, overall a good principal that need to get back to our school

early in the morning. typically in the news that means after midnight, so most likely after he left where ever he was to drive home.

the story of his night was there was a baseball game and him and our main principal went out to applebees and drank. parting there ways dr.murphy (the b as we call him) drives to his shitty apartment that is mold infested. he decides to sleep in his car forgetting to turn the engine off as well as lights frightening the neighbors, who then call the cops and thats where the article and finish. he told the administration to tell all the students of his mistake as a lesson to all and how much shit he is now in.

yeah that is true when i first heard it i was like yeah that guy was our principal but there people too. but i know where your coming from

one of my teachers got drunk, drove on the wrong side of the highway, almost killed someone, and is currently in jail
