My Powder Skis Weigh a Ton

After rocking on my park skis for the last month, my pow skis feel like I have giant weights on my feet. Anyone able to recommend some fatty skis that don't feel so clunky?

anything bamboo should fit the bill.

check out moment ghost chants, or libery double helix.

both sick skis.

Also the volkl shiro is made from sensor wood and it too is very light, along with the on3p caylor.

all good skis to check out

i rock volkl chopsticks. they weigh a shit ton, and even more with a pile of heavy mt. hood cement on top of them. the key is to just go fast. the faster you're riding, the lighter they will feel. fuck slow speed turning with big ass skis. it just isnt fun.

I think you might be a bit misinformed there. Bamboo being a grass is one of the lighter core materials out there.

If you learned how to actually ski, then the weight of ski's wouldn't be such an issue for you.

A grass that is held together with a bonding agent. I have made the same cores out of bamboo and poplar, and the bamboo cores are typically 200-300 grams heavier.

Apologies, it seems I stand corrected with regards to the weight of bamboo versus that of aspen. I had always assumed that bamboo was the lighter as ski companies often choose to state the light feel a bamboo core gives their skis. +k to you sir

With the best skis, the weight doesn't matter because they 'come alive' when you ski them. My 191 caylors with 916 labs with the zz plate feel like they weigh a hundred pounds when I carry them or when I'm on the lift, as did my old hellbents with fks 155s. Somehow I never seem to notice that weight when I'm skiing though...

Sure its heavier than some other materials, but its definately not one of the heaviest out there and it gives the ski that playful responsive feel that I think OP is lookin for

just get jjs with marker squires or dynafits.

now thats a sick lightweight pow setup.

you could go for Black diamond skis too if you were feeling extra wimpy.

If you ski them for a week you'll get used to the feel.

If you have serious coin then Dynafit with most anything would be a great option. It'll cut your binder weight in half (FKS= ~2400g /pr while Radicals= ~1200g /pr). I'm really happy with my Dynafit/Jeffrey Tour setup so far.
