here's a poem for an ex of mine. called Red Sand

The tide has gone out to sea

taken everyone but me.

So I sit here alone and cold,

staring at the moon

longing for you to hold.

Night breaks into day,

everything still at bay.

I shutter with that warmth

as fingers dig into open wounds

left by you.

Pretending to hang on

before you had left and gone.

Salt water now burns my flesh

in the wounds you left.

Leaving me sitting on blood stained sand

waiting for someone who’ll understand

the pain of the sea

you caused me.

i know she didn't break my heart, but I took some artistic verse and wrote how I felt at the time, like six months ago now.

Prins, that was great. I especially liked the penultimate line, the pain and the sea, the way it implies a sea of pain, and 'left by you' has great dramatic effect and can be taken on its own as well, nicely done. I'm wondering though, what does the moon line mean? it seems to have some importance for you to have abandoned the rhyme scheme there as you did with the 'left by you' line, which is probably the central line. What's the importance? Symbolic value of something?

UP_Dung...what are you talking about? Your one dropping short of a pile of shit. Nobody said anything about opinions. Your cornholing accomplice, Ski_turd, wrote a poem and it sucked. It has nothing to do with me not honoring his opinion. I'm not honoring his poem...thats all. I felt the quality was shatty. You dont seem very smart.

 
The content of his poem was heavily influenced by the way he sees the world- thus being influenced by his opinion. If you didn't like the poem, you obviously didn't like it for it's content, thus you didn't like it because of his opinion. Live and let live. If you didn't like it, I'm sure he doesn't care what you think. And for that matter, I don't see why I should care about you either...whatever. Take it for what it's worth.

J.D_May, the line about the moon is meant to symbolize the light that seems so distant. By staring at it there is this feeling of longing and desire to have attained it, it being this desire to find the love of my life, and thinking I had to then have it ripped out, sitting confused staring at it, trying to understand it. I had toyed with the idea of making it 'new moon', but felt it didn't really capture what I was feeling at the time. Thanks for actually checking it out and reading it over, glad ya liked it.

I dont get too crazy with the words i choose to use....when i find the right word i use it, i can't make all the words some unintelligable train of thought from my brain that has too many subtlties...sp?...that only I can figure out what it means.....theres a line in there somewhere.....but i guess maybe there isnt....
