My plan to NOT go to college

Instead of going to college, I’d like to move to eitherMiddle America or the Caribbean to run a business. I’ll use the money I wouldhave spent on college (I have a small bank account that was set up by mygrandmother when I was born that’s looking at about 60 to 70 grand) to purchasea business (I’d hope to find a bar or restaurant) but instead of justimmediately taking over, I’ll work out some deal where I go through a sort of apprenticeshipso that I can learn to run the business effectively. If they want to, I’ll keepthe original owner still somewhat involved in the business (ideally onlycreatively) so that they still feel a part of the business.With this plan, I’ll be able to live in a part of the worldthat I like, have a business that will allow me to live moderately comfortably, and enable me to live a life that I’m happy with untilI die.I’m aware that this plan is risky, and could easily backfireso I’m looking for some feedback and suggestions to make this plan more realistic.
 
I don't know about you americaners but here the money we place in special bank account for studys are only good for studys and if you don't go to college then you loose the interest you made on the money and the money goes back to the people who puted the money there...just sayin.
 
sounds like a plan, which is good, but going to university/college will only take 4 years out of your life, and youll have many more doors open for you should you decide to alter your plan. 4 years is not long in the scheme of things.
 
if that is your dream then go for it! you don't need a college degree for a lot of things. why do you want to get out of the country?
 
sounds like a ok idea. but be ready to spend the rest of your life there unless you somehow make it HUGE and can have others run it for you. otherwise your stuck there supervising every day for the rest of your life. no vacation or else you will loose business.
 
go to panama or nicaragua. or costa rica if you're a pussy and want to capitalize on people who already did what you could be doing in the previous two.
 
When the fuck did 60-70k become a "small" amount??? Especially for a student, in high school. Or to be more accurate, for anyone not a 35- 40+ year old upper middle class person?
 
i get seasonal depression and year round summer is cheaper in the third world than in CA, and I really like the culture of the caribbean and middle america.
 
when ur opening a new resturaunt and moving out of ur parents house, that is a small amount. Do you know how much it costs to open a resturaunt.

A small pizza shop costs roughly 100gs.
 
ya any "old person"/parent that has 70k lying around is ballin outta control. if i were you i would put a down payment on some property and rent that shit out for the next 50 yrs, imagine constant income, the rent would cover the mortgage and if you had a part time job or took out a student loan you would be set. jealous

But honestly, if you are truly going to go through with this plan think everything through first. It would suck to have your business fail and then not be able to go anywhere in your life because you wasted it all.
 
i'd say hit up a business degree first. Then go start you business and that way you'll have something to fall back on if shit goes downhill.
 
O really? i happen to work for a pizza shop and that came out of the owners mouth. who also runs and owns a very popular resturaunt in the area. so GO SUCK A FUCKING DICK. do you even know how much a dough mixer costs? or a pizza oven? your looking at 30 grand right there. not counting the building itself, utilities, refrigerators, friers, insurance, employees. i fucking hate stupid fucking morons like you.

If you're going to do it at least start with something easier than a resturaunt. That is one of the hardest business to run and are rarely successful

dude my buddy opened up a place in colombus for under 70gs. granted its not a big place where alot of people can sit, his family already owned the place its out of, so that has alot to do with it. but it can be done.

First of all, do you even speak Spanish? If you don't speak it fluently you're already setting yourself up to fail. You think anyone in Central America will take you seriously? They'll just laugh at your stupid gringo ass. Same goes for the Caribbean.
60-70k won't get you shit, you need at the very minimum a hundred and fifty to get rolling, and I've seen a significant amount of restaurants fail in Costa Rica.
Listen, it sounds like you have a lot of growing up to do. I understand your delusions because I once had similar ones, but they were just daydreams. If you really want to go to one of those places then have a real plan. Go there first and work at some job that caters to tourists if you can find it. Get acquainted with the place for at least a year before investing money you don't really have.

Dude college is soo fun I dont understand why you wouldnt want to go there. You meet some of the best people at least I have depending on where you go and you make friends for life have crazy stories and at the same time get an education which will hopefully set you up to do what you want. I say go to college have a blast get a degree then pursue what you wanna do.

make a GOOD business plan first. businesses that start with a business plan are 6x more likely to succeed than those who dont.
 
while yes it is a challenge definitely but it can be done.

my uncle had nothing growing up and got in trouble when he was young and went to jail and the whole nine. Never went to college obviously. I think he graduated highschool but not positive maybe GED. Either way he moved out to colorado and became an apprentice plumber. now he owns his own plumbing company with like 8-10 employees and makes bank.

and its not some rotorooter bullshit. its commercial plumbing. gotta go with your gut and live with the consequences.

B: buy a small house in canada and ski ur heart out and grow mad pot. then devise plans to bring it across the border and ull be wealthy in no time.

C: go to central America and backpack. u can for about 6 g's for the full summer. learn connects and buy a few kilo's of raw fire cocaine. then the hardest challenge of ur life is to just sneek a few packages accross a immaginary line. pretty simple if u ask me. then witht he left over money take trains to nyc or even better a smaller town liek burlington vt and sell that shit for sooo much.

u can get a kilo of raw for about 2- 2500 usd.

shit sells up north for 80/ gram.

thats about 78,000.00 profit.

20 kilo bought for 40.000.00 save some for ur self to live off of.
