My one thousandth (yep its spelled right, just looks weird) post

So I have seen people in the past make threads about their 1000th post, so I thought I would do the same for mine, and write a little extra in commemoration of this special time.

So, I joined newschoolers last year on November 12th, that is a little over a year of being a member of this great site, however I had been browsing since around September of 2005. I didn't become a member because I hadnt really gotten too much into the newschool skiing scene, in fact I didn't even ski at the time, I was still a snowboarder. The thing that made me decide to start skiing again was actually the x-games, more specifically, Corey Vanular's sw 10 in the Winter X Games 10 big air. From there I decided that I was going to ski again, however I still hadnt joined newschoolers. It took me almost a full two years to get serious about beginning to ski again, and in the November of 07, I decided that winter 07 was going to be the year that I got back into skiing, along with joining newschoolers.

From there, I went to newschoolers for information about skis, boots, poles, and bindings, to see what would be the best setup for me. From there I found myself getting a pair of Scott P3's, Dalbello Krypton Rampages, and Rossignol Scratch 140 ti's (went for the 140 ti's because I have a friend who goes through bindings like they're nothing, and if I found them too heavy, I could sell them to him for almost what I paid while still hooking up a friend) and then had some issues with actually getting my shit (ordered it from a friend in a somewhat high place in the ski industry in Canada, or at least I'd like to think that /claim) and then with getting it mounted. So after that was all said and done, I ended up starting to ski again in February, where I took some lessons from my sister's friend's mom who is a ski instructor, to get back into skiing (it had been about 12 years since I had skied last). After that my only concern was being up the mountain in my really nice outerwear and helmet and what not, and looking like a complete poser. I ended up getting over the fear of looking like a poser pretty quick, and finally started skiing! I didn't really end up learning that much in the park, I mostly concerned myself with getting down the fundamentals again.

Fast forward to right now, people have almost completely forgotten that I snowboard (even though I still do, and still kill it hard /claim), I spend most of my time on newschoolers, have stopped saying "I'm going boarding (not that I ever did, it sounds terribly gay) I just say I am going up the mountain, or going riding, I have been to more of this years ski movie premiers than I have watched snowboard movies from this year, and I do not even currently own a snowboard (again, I will be getting one, I am never going to stop snowboarding, just do it a little bit less). My marks are at least 10% lower than they should be, I spend way way too much time on this website (from an outsider's perspective, there is no such thing as too much NS), and I have met people who go to the same university as me because of this website, Lord. and Bamski, along with other people who I have skiied with, or encountered in person, JOEROGAN1, and I think I have met FRODO as well, but I am not sure.

With all that said, I will conclude my thousandth post rant. Through newschoolers I have learned things I could never hope (and sometimes want) to know, made new friends, learned almost everything I know about skiing, among many other skills that I have found somewhat useful in life. This is a great website, I do not regret (most) of the time I have spent on here, and I hope this website is around for a very long time.

Thank you everyone for making this website such a great place.

TLDR

in before cool story hansel

My 1500th post was me stealing people's NS passwords, have yet too see that get beat, oh then I got banned... yeah~

yeah man i was just thinking about making a thread about how much NS has changed my life. i now have shittier grades, a better sense of humor, a place to get my news from, and dare i say it, a whole bunch of friends that i can come to at any time, confess my love for skiing and get jeas from all.

whatever happened to jea?

JEA! for this thread.

not that i think of myself as included in your group of people who make NS a great place, but you're welcome.

danngg..i still get impressed with people who hit 1000 posts that fast...you average like what 2 posts per day? i guess its not alot thinking about it....but i have been a member for 5 years on January 14th and haven't eclipsed 2000 ha...i just like to read al the posts and see what people have to say and post if necessary

ahha wow i didnt think id get such negative comments from saying that.... my only intention in that comment was to voice my distaste for negative comments like that in this thread, but I went the wrong way about it. sorry if i came off as a tool, douche, whatever, not my intention at all.

sure, i do feel cool. I personally dont understand the hate that comes when people make threads like this, it seems that the number of people who are stoked for someone else is completely outnumbered by the people hating. Yes I do realize that I made a stupid douche comment, but that doesnt change the fact that there are more people saying "do you feel cool now?", or "get over yourself", or whatever, merely because someone is stoked on the fact that they hit something that they consider a milestone, and I've seen the same hate go towards people celebrating birthdays, or one year on ns threads. why the hate on people who are excited about themselves, or about something on ns?

there is no need to make a thread just because you have a bday, 1000 posts, or other stupid shit like that.

Now there's the problem.

NS is a great time waster, but c'mon man, its just a web site.

Wow, it seems that Ns's data base was just fried with haterade..

Mitch i'd be down to go to whistler anytime.. i'd just need a lift ;)

word. i made one of these, i've seen plenty of good ones (this included). and i feel a person deserves to share their story to others on this site if they want to read it especially on their 1000th post. all the haters are the real douches; sure there were some unnecessary comments in the post but you're missing the point. i'm really glad you are into both snowboarding and skiing and have the respect for our sport to not be another bandwagon snowboarder kid. congrats on your 1000th post. sorry if that didn't make much sense, i'm very tired at the moment.

congrats on your 1000 ...but its cool when you hear stories about NS that are good....instead of the hating that goes on here most of the time!!

well you sort of earned it.... you actually probably earned a bit more than what i gave you, but i have to be fair to everyone lol

no offense dude, but being nice to people all the time isn't going to help them fix their mistakes. that rule would only apply if you were speaking to the perfect person. although i must say that telling people they are "for the loss" is not constructive criticism.

haha im hardly nice to people all the time, i just thought now would be an appropriate time for something like that to be applied. This is hardly the place for constructive criticism about me making a 1000 posts thread, maybe if it was about something I wrote in my original post, then yes, but the hate is purely about the fact that I made this thread.
