My new sunglasses company, check it out!

For the past couple years of my life I've been working in different components of the optical industry and have come to realize one thing, there's literally no reason for sunglasses to cost upwards of $100..

For the last couple weeks i've been working on getting my own side project/ site up and running to try and hook kids up with some affordable sunglasses to ride or rock wherever they choose. I tried to make them at a price point where if you landed on them riding or lost them partying, you wouldn't be super bummed out about it and could easily pick up another pair.

Pretty much all of our frames are $14 dollars, with the exception of our limited edition ones. As well we do free shipping within the United States, because lets be real... Sunglasses don't really cost much to ship at all- We'll bite the bullet.

Because the standard version of shopify which we use isn't cool with us giving actual coupon codes, If you buy one pair of our limited edition sunglasses, i'll hook NS up with an extra pair for free if you hit me up on here or via email at wayfayour@gmail.com with the shipping address used on the order.

your company name is too hard to say and not that memorable man, sorry. however, the indian summer sunglasses are dope.

not to be a douche but I could get these sunglasses anywhere for the same price (maybe besides the indian-print ones) and the name is confusing and not a clever rip of wayfarer

just trying to help

As a business I want you to tell me the difference between these and knockarounds. Because they seem like the same thing... Not to sound like a dick

yeah pretty much this. not to rip on your business, but sunglass design is played and probably the same quality or worse than the knockarounds. the name isn't memorable or easy to say either

Why are Canadians constantly surprised to find out they don't live in the US?

Looks like free shipping within the US.

Don't live in the US?Obviously we don't, thats not what i was surprised about.

But paying 20$ for shipping sucks.. i was just saying it was expensive to get a pair of plastic sunglasses delivered to me.

Ditto. If you're serious about pushing this then rebrand right now; it'll be a hell of a lot less hassle than a year or two down the line.

It would be cool if you could give us some different angles on the glasses. It keeps pissing me off that I can't see the front of them. Other than that those are some really sick glasses and the price is great!

I was actually stoked on the idea of seeing a nice line of $14 sunglasses.

Unfortunately you did nothing. You're buying these wholesale and reselling them. I've gone through so many pairs of sunglasses touring over the summer and I kept finding more pairs for 10 bucks or less. At festival vendors, gas staions everywhere. Actually bought 3 pair of these for 1$ a piece at a dollar store in PA.

As much as I like the idea of selling something at a deal, this is totally bunk. You aren't doing anything with these. I could buy these same glasses anywhere else for cheaper.

I've never seen the "indian summer" print before but I've seen a ton of other prints that you don't have for less, indluding a tie dyed with clear frames on the front, and mirror'd lenses I grabbed for 9 or 10 in the south on the way to georgia.

Also your name is lame. Not trying to be a hater. Came in here to throw my support, maybe even buy a pair but that's just bunk.

Don't worry you can buy them in a gas station, dollar store, or any where else for 1$ to 15 They generally cost 8-$10 most places I've seen them. And if you buy them in person shipping is free.

I have some questions:

Where are your sunglasses made?

Have you has someone review/edit the text on your website?

Yeah I'm petty sure you're right. I just buy the ones at pacsun for 15 bucks. But i see the design everywhere so it makes sense that they're just whole sale items. Better than dropping $100 on oakleys though

Oh for sure. And people who tell you they're shitty just have too much money to waste. They work fine. I'll never pay more than 15 bucks for a pair of sunglasses. I'll never have to bitch about somebody stealing my pair of $100+ ones, them breaking or getting lost. Oh no but I won't be able to brag about my awesome glasses, oh well.

Seriously the way to go man. I've been on the cheap sunglasses kick since I bought a pair of foakleys in the city when I was 10 or 11. The wayfarer knockoffs are perfect for me. I've never had a problem with them and see no reason to spend $100. Not saying that they don't make quality lenses for the products, just that it really doesn't matter at least for me.

The whole cheap wayfarer thing is super overplayed in my opinion, I mean you can just get knockarounds or stuns or dangs and they have more choice and whatnot

yea i have like 15 pairs of wayfarers already because they are so popular and they are given out for free everywhere in tons of colors. if you can't find any for free then they cost like 10 bucks. my advice is to mess around with frame designs and start a new trend that isn't so "played".

I just think it's wild that you come across like you're doing something epic for the scene. You know so much about the optical industry and you're going to use your knowledge to hook us up with great sunglasses for a good price. Even throw in free shipping. It sounds so good.

And they only cost you 40-80 cents a piece. So it's pretty much 100% profit. Even if shipping costs a couple bucks you're still making over $10 for every pair of 50 cent sunglasses you sell.

Not saying there's anything wrong with a solid profit margin, just don't give me all this shit about knowing the ins an outs of the industry and the industry, and hooking it up so fat when your site has that on there.

Honestly I bet op has nothing to do with that site and just found it. And wrote the OP just to make it seem 3 times as douchey. Either way it was fun to argue. And lol at wyfayour clothing whether it's op's or someone else'

I really appreciate the feedback guys, and taking a second to check out the site!I honestly totally agree with a lot of the comments made by you guys, I really wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel with these and or make it my career.

Obviously the wayfarer design isn't cutting edge, but it's been pretty consistent through out time compared to a lot of styles in sunglasses. Hoping to pick up some more unique designs and colors/ a new line once i can reinvest into it.

The website/product pictures are literally my first time ever trying them out, so i'm not exactly a professional. Hoping to learn a lot from trying this out. Would appreciate some tips if anyone has a lot of experience with shopify actually

Also Canada friends sorry i totally fucked the shipping up for you guys trying to fix this now!

So your not trying to change anything... Even just about every sunglasses company offers a pair of shades with that frame... I don't see point.

This is like the Heartcarve of eyewear.

I actually don't hate the glasses, it's a classic design and I like the colors.

But the thing is, I don't believe for a second that you have worked in the "optics" industry for years. If you did, you would have some hand in designing or making frames or lenses, but you don't. You just buy Chinese cheapos on the internet and resell them, anyone could do that.

Alright now for some pros and good things to try out because this thread has weird vibes. So try making a unique idea or design. Maybe even try finding Someone you know that is good at spray painting. At this art festival there were these guys that would do a custom spray paint with this special paint so it doesn't end up getting on your face or anything. She ended up having them do a mountain scene with a skier and it turned out pretty cool. I'm on mobile so can't post pics. And that was the only time I had seen that so pretty unique. Just sort of think of things like that. Definitely get some more angles of the glasses on the website up. Also make a little part on your website showing support to customers and like background info on your company. Just little ideas to think about and be creative!

Your a tool bag! You and you tiny ass dick should go jump off a cliff. You are probably sitting at home on newschoolers and T Walls Facebook thinking about how you would slob on any pros knob. I had no idea you were the business world. You aren't even old enough to have a job yet. When you graduate highschool and MAYBE get into college where you will fail out and work at the quickie mart while living In Your moms house. Where you will share a room with your little brother and have to wait till he falls a sleep so you can bust out the tweezers and think about LJ Strenio in revolver shirtless while you go to town on that sad excuse for a penis. I would love to see you I. The bar so I could kick your ass so bad that your mouths wired shut and your fingers and hands broke. So no one ever has to hear you talk or read anything your retarded brain can conjure up. And for the imbeciles that think wayfayour is too hard a name, you should go stand in traffic. I seriously am blown away that you think the name of a company will make or break the business. And to hard to remember? I read this once and I can remember it fine. Company is legit, products legit, ideas legit, and I'm a supporter. Eat a dick and die fags

Pretty sure that was a big troll, but really i'm taking a lot of the comments into consideration and have gotten some ideas on what to change this coming week. You can always count on NS for being brutally honest on your ideas, good or bad.

Thinking of lowering the prices on the standard frames as well, would the $10-12 range be better?

Sure but personally I think people are more talking that like you need more originality over prices. Think about unique ideas to get more attention or something

I'm not surprised you're a supporter. I'm also not surprised you're a shitty troll.

This is what happens when 12 year olds try to troll.

It's not even a price thing. Go ahead and sell them for 14 bucks. Kids will buy them and the profit margin is insane. I just don't like when people bullshit me.

Instead of saying I spent years in the optical industry and I realized that there's no reason to have $100 sunglasses, you're doing all this stuff to hook us up, even throwing in free shipping...

Instead of doing that, just say, I'm starting a company selling cheap sunglasses. Each pair comes with free shipping and I'm offering a promo where you receive a free pair if you contact this email. Something like that, simple and straight forward. Hell I sold some of those over the summer.

You'll probably do well. Just be careful though. Idk what the logistics are of selling those things online.

I really wasn't knocking the price or idea. I just didn't want to be fed a line about how much you were hooking me up to make 12 bucks off me selling me the same thing I can buy at a gas station or dollar store for 1$-10$.

Other than that good luck.
