I'm gonna put these on it! (hopefully soon)

That^ suspension kit lowers it about 1.25 inches

and I'm gonna put this on it

rd_front.jpg'

For those of you who don;t know, that is a strut brace. it makes it tighter, and funner to drive.

and after a while I'm gonna get one of these and make, or have some one make a cold air box for it.

yo who cares if his mom got it for him... your parents aren't instilling any values in you by not buying you a car, and they are helping you if they do buy one.

agreed^

My experience is this. Most kids that I know that have purchased their cars never seemed to get into accidents versus kids who were given cars. Additionally kids who were given cars but paid for insurance, gas, and some repairs, much less likely to harm their cars than kids who had it all free. So I think there are some values to be had in car care and safety.

good call. although i still wish my parents would buy me a car

Yeah man, I think you appreciate the shit more when you pay for it yourself. I'm 21 and I expect to be taking the bus for a few more years. I've been working since I was 16, but could never afford a car because I spent my money on trips and post secondary as well as the fact that I buy all my own shit. When I finally do get a car, I know that I will appreciate it more than imaginable. I admit, it's just jealousy, but hearing about 15 year olds getting a car really frustrates me.

I totally agree Jay. I have been working since I was 15, I'm 19 now. My parents didn't buy me a car and I don't see myself having one for quite a few years to come. There are times when I would really liked to have had one but it wasn't an option. I relied a lot on friends to drive me places, like skiing (thanks a bunch Harvey). I have to pay for everything I want myself, including education. It's frustrating when others can get basically everything they want from their parent's pocket but that's life.

my rents arent makn me pay for anything except repairs and gas. and now i feel guilty. but in the summer i gotta share it with my sister which means i dont get it cuz she is a major bitch.

Yeah Jay, I know what you're saying. I bought my car when I was 18. I was done high school and had to get a car to get to work. I would never modify my car because my insurance was already $300 per month. Anyways yeah, it is frustrating hearing kids getting cars without paying but all I can chalk it up to is jealousy. Oh well, I guess 'life isn't fair'.

you can't spell sick without ck

I fucking work my ass off to own my car(s). My first car was handed to me and I beat the shit out of it, eventually dropping the tranny, and now that I've experianced life without a car, I'm making sure that never happens again.I bought one car. Now with 2 cars, and now I'm shopping for a third to rebuild (probably something 80's like a Fiero, or my friend's 320i)

If I may say something about the springs. Take a look at Eibach stuff. I personally like it. Also. About the CAI. Don't think that just because you bolt that thing on that its going to make your car lightning fast. They add very little hp at the wheels. Couple it with a good headers/exhaust system and you will get a slight speed increase. Also, do some junkyard shopping on your car. Stuff from the same year M3 should bolt right on to your car. Do some reasearch on BMW owner forums. Always do research before you buy because there are most likely cheaper alternatives for example, for RX7's and Miatas, theres a company out there called Racing Beat, which puts out far better equipment than most of the other big names at a much lower price.

I coulda been king.

But in my own way, I am king.

Hail to the king, baby!

wow. andy. hi.

i can see both sides of this situation, i prefer to take Jay's. it is teaching you NOTHING about real life to have mommy by you one, unless you'll be a rich white stereotypical skier forever

jarod or whatever you are...who started this thread...i'm not dissin you man...just voicing what i think.

my parents gave me a car, i respect it...don't treat it like shit. my dad worked his ass off from nothing and has more than made it as a success and i thank him for that, made my life a breze compared to others i know. if he wants to buy me a car, i obviously don't have a problem with that, but don't look past the fact that it was his decision and could have gone either way. he could have just as easily not done it and made me work for it just as he did...it's not fair to call someone a spoiled brat just because their parents bought them a car. everyone has their own philosophies on life or different ways of allocating funds..just because it is different from yours does that mean it's wrong? no disrespect to younger memebers, but for all the older guys on the site: remember when you were fifteen, immature and ignorant to the ways of the world. can you blame a kid for being stoked on his parents buying him a new ride? he's not trying to put you down for not being in the same situation as him, he doesn't know any better. i can understand jealousy being a factor, but aren't you old enough to realize that there is nothing you can do about it? i'm not pointing fingers at anybody nor am i mad, i think this is just another case (one of billions) on newschoolers where people need to step back and take on somebody else's perspective and chill out about shit.

how do people afford insurance on cars, i mean 18 year old drivers driving cars, insurance is like 4000$ here , well if i were to own my own car it probaly would

'Keep on rocking in the free world'

thanks for the advice, andy. I will look into it. ya I am all about research. and ya, I knew that about the CAI. I'm probably not gonna get one of those for a while now, especially if I get that/a suspension kit because I will have to pay for part of it.

I have to pay for gas and probably 1/2 of the repairs. I would never thing of treating that car badly. I love cars and my parents know this. that was one of the motivations for them letting me get a fairly nice (for a first one atleast) car. my parents said that they would pay for all anitial costs. it just so happens that it needs new front struts. abvously those are more than just front struts so I have to pay the difference.

i have been working from the time i was 12 i started my first business at 14 (still going i might add) and i have never worked some MickyD's type job i work construction, concret, recieving deprartments just over all manual labor. but ya know what i really don't have to my parnets are forunate enought to be able to provide nicely for all of us. i didn't buy my truck but i love that thing as much as if i did i apriciate it even more then if i prob bought it. really it fucking pisses me off when people get all pissed about parents buying kids cars and sending them to college. if you think about it its one less thing the kid has to worry about for the next 5 to 15 years with loans and shit. both my parents came from super poor walks of life and they have made it on their own working for 30+ years at the same thing. they do shit like buy a truck and send me to college because they want to and they can not because i ask them. see when no debet ahead of me i'm looking to after college where i can pull over 70g's a year starting and then trun around and do the same shit for my parents as they did for me is a good feeling.

.:l[Tyler]l:.

Erich, I don't think that just because I'm older it means I can't feel jealous. I'm older so I have learned to shrug off it off and accept that that is life.

When you work your ass off for years and have little to show for it you get frustrated. It's even more frustrating when you're surrounded by people who have done very little but have so much more than you. You're right that is life, and you have to learn to deal with it (which I feel I do), but I feel that dealing with it build adversity. That is why us poor folk make comments like 'you appreciate it more if you pay for it.' Or maybe we just say that to console ourselves.

Sick i just turned 17 and i am inveting into a 325 i with m3 body kit i am so exited to have something of my own and be proud of and weather my parents help me buy it or not its its still my car and i still respect it the same cuase its not like ur mom wants the parts u put in ur car to be there or not ur the one who chooses

I bought my car too. It's an S4. I'm still working on pimping it out right now, i mean what can I say, shits expensive when you pay for your own shit.

it's pretty much pointlss to complain about stuff like this. some people just get it better than others. my parent have owned quite a few businesses over the ears and ive worked on them since i was a we lad. wheni was like 7 i was spending my weekends at their resteraunt helping wash dishes and peeling vegetables. at their store i stalked coolers and sorted bottles. weve had a mini golf course for like 10 years at least and id work on that every year by myself for the most part except for a couple years where my friend helped out, but he complained everyday pretty much(i think i actually get more done on my own, haha) . and i worked on lawns and gardens and landscaping and all that. now im working like 8 or 9 hours a day working at various jobs my rents own pretty much 7 days a week just so i have enough spending money. i have no car. 2/3 of my 8 dollars an hour money im making is going toward college, i live 15 min away from any friends. i hung out with one friend like 3 times in the past month. but there's college to look forward to in a few months which i got an apartment with some friends in burlington so it should be sick. not everyone gets a fair deal. u just gotta look at how eventually the hard stuff will pay off in the long run.

my first car was a 1981 oldsmobile delta 88 royale with a blue book value of $200. my parents bought a different car and let me use it when my older brother didn't need it which was never...so i rode my bike 7 miles into town a lot. last year i finally bought a car and i take great care of it since i can';t afford repairs. but even if my parents did by me a brand new bmw or whatever, i'd take immaculate care of it becaouse i would be so happy and it would be too disrespectful to wreck it.
