Ignei-what? I've never heard of those, but they are very sexy!

Igneous. www.igneousskis.com

they are custom ski out of Jackson Hole. Were around 1998~2001. they the company kind of died. you can still have skis made though the cost a lot more ( the list price for these is $1180).

you get to chose the shape, stiffness, and flex pattern. you used to be able to choose the graphic but now all the new ones have the wooden topsheet.

these are 265 stiffness. the scale you can choose from runs 200-300. for reference a Volkl Expolsive is about 235ish. So, these are pretty stiff. The whole appeal to them is that they are burly. Pretty hard to fuck them up. metal tail cap, think as edges, kevlar protecting the base from core shots. they last, they fucking way a ton though.

Thats cool.

Hart skis will also completely custom make skis (graphics, dimensions, etc).

And K2 still makes the best skis (not that I'm plugging either of these companies.........)

Those are beautiful skis though, I would hang them on my wall! Congrats!

How much? $

well 3/6 of my skis are K2s. I love K2.

these skis are very specific (really deep deep pow). all around I think K2 is the best and most versatile.

I got them for $520, including salomon s916 bindings. it is a ridiculous deal.

o, and Hart coming back is going to be sick. I used to have a sick pair of their mogul skis way back when.

$520?! jesus, you did get a good deal!

You'll have a blast on those if we get the snow for ya!

yeah...the key being if.

this past season was my first in WA out from CO and it was pretty shocking. When it was good at the end of the season it was super sick...but begining my real ski season in April sucks.

the hardest part with these skis is deciding whether to ski Spatulas or the FFFs on a powder day.....

^those are ill skis. stiffer than explosives though!! your legs must be huge. those should be awesome on pow days

i rock the pow like none other

i'm not too big. 5'10", 175. These are made pretty much to go straight as fast as possible. I'm excited.

sick igneous is back in business! I thought they went out of business a couple of seasons ago do they still do the custom ski thing?

M~M~C

poach: To take or appropriate something unfairly or illegally (you know what I'm talking about)

they did go out of business. a couple of years ago, though, they start producing customs again on a small level. they add a bunch of new shapes. check out the website to see them. www.igneousskis.com. They were much more expensive (for example, these are $1180 new, as opposed to between $600 and $750 when they were making lots of skis) because the materials they are buying are in mass so they are more expensive. it is money up front and they then make the skis.

Igneous is so sick. I love their skis. There are a few companies that are starting up that are making sick big mountain skis that in a few years I will be interested in:

Kingswood - out of new zealand. basically a light, full twinned igneous

Capital - they make a couple of very sick big mountain skis and a spatula ski that is 155/162/132. it sounds sick.

I hear there's this company called "Stumpysticks" that makes killer custom skis. I think they're local.

hahah I've seen you website about them. They looked sick. If only they were longer, but then they couldn't be called stumpysticks could they.

how did they end up skiing anyway?

hahahaha, well i'm kind of joking here. I've only made two skis, they're both very shitty. I ran out of time during school to work on them. I skied the first one for a day, it skied good but was too stiff and had the side wall rip out on me. Changed the design a lot for the second one, no sidewall problems now, and much softer (but the snow was gone by the time this ski was made)

I'm hoping I can make some more this summer, I have access to *much* better equipment now.

aren't you working at K2 now?

That would be sick. Do you wanna make me a ski?

Either a 190-ish spatula like ski with no metal topsheet, sidewall construction, full twin......maybe 140 in the waist? or an everyday ski....190 cm, ~ 105 in the waist, full twin, pretty stiff......come on...you know you wanna.

yes i'm working there.

Oh sure, I should have those skis done for you by the end of the day wednesday maybe? 140 at the waist, thats a little small don't you think? I would say you'd want to go at least 160, if not bigger. I know personally I won't ski on anything that is less than 12 inches wide.

hahaha.

there is a ski capital is making now that is 153 in the waist. spatula like. that is fucking huge. I would say that, realistically, 120-130 in the waist is about as fat as you will ever really need to go. spats are only 125 and the float well, and these new FFFs are going to float a ridiculous amount, and they are only 118.

153 would be insane. It would feel quite strange.

118 isn't that wide. you got think, people get them over prophet 130s and sptulas, as well as next years sumos.

I have s914s on my spatulas and the brake only took a little bending to fit over. the brakes for these took even less bending.

I think the brakes on my tyrolias that I got to fit on my stumpysticks will fit around up to 130 at the waist, they look so wierd.
