My long story short style dropin

im almost finished with my dropin, designed after the one in lss, heres a pic

i just have to adjust the angle and put the plywood on the front and some decking on the top
 
-----> that way, and the angle used to be too steep but i just adjusted the angle about 5 minutes ago so its good now
 
i think the ladder could be steeper, for the purpose on transportation unless your just using in your backyard
 
its for my 20' a frame, and my 16' flat rail, i have a seperate, smaller drop in for the rails in the background
 
looks good. in the future making a cube with a vertical ladder and then attaching the ramp to one side maybe better. Makes it easier to transport for urban, or just store after the season. But that one doesnt look bad
 
wow, thats so simple it's blowing my mind, i'm gonna build one, maybe tommorow. the comment that said it was made with chains made me realise how simple it was.
 
yeah, it was really easy, it only took a combined total of about 3 or 4 hours, make sure yours is adjustable, i would be using it now but all the snow melted last night
 
how would one go about building it adjustable? I'm prob buildin one tomorrow.

also how much did it cost to make approximately
 
since its all put together with carriage bolts, you can just drill a hole at another part on the horizontal board, and bring the two sides closer together, making it steeper

and as far as price..lets see, 4-10ft 2x4's, and maybe 9-8ft 2x4's, and a whole bunch of screws and 12 4 inch long 1/2 in. thick carriage bolts, and the plywood for the front, and i used decking for the top, so i will try to calculate the total real quick
 
i believe it cost me around 65$ but my dad works at lowes so he gets a discount on stuff, but i would plan on spending around 75-80$, depending on the cost of lumber where you are, and i got an extra few 2x4's, so 11-8ft. 2x4's sounds like a better idea then 9
 
thats a lot of wood, i'm planning on getting 7 12 ft 2x4's.

what about the elements? whats gonna stop it from rotting
 
i might put some deck waterproofing on it, but for now i just keep it under a tarp cause its raining and theres no such thing as snow on the east coast
 
I just dropped 115$ (cdn) at home depot on supplies to build a drop in like yours. The wood was only half of it though! It was the fixtures and screws that got me, a bunch of l-brackets and some decking screws can cost a lot more than you think
 
i would imagine they would make it a little less stable cuz they only stop movement in one direction.
 
wait, your using chains? where would you put them? where i have the horizontal 2x4 like half way down?
 
they might a little bit but it seems as though the base is so wide on the ramp that it wont be that big of a deal. so i wouldnt worry about it
