This is my story about my expereince with Line skis last season:

I bought a pair of brand new '03 Skogans from my shop. I wanted to keep them in perfect condition and lay off the rails with them until next season, so I just hit jumps and rode alot of pipe with them. 2 weeks after I bought them and about 6 or 7 days on snow, they started to delaminate under the boot after an all-day pipe session.

I went back to the shop, they said i did it on a rail, so they wouldn't warrenty them. I was like 'No, it was in the pipe, look no rail marks', and then they were like 'well we're not sending them back for you'. As it turned out, I was on my way to see my girlfriend in Vermont and thought I'd just stop by the Line headquarters in Burlington. I talked to some chick on the phone first, and she was like 'we don't have any Skogans left in the factory, but when we find some we can mail them to you. Where are you from?' And so I told her Edmotnon, Canada, and she was like, 'Oh, we don't deal with Canadian customers, you have to call Odysee Sports in Montreal' So I called them and they were like 'Well we MIGHT warrenty them, but we'd have to see the ski and if there's any rail damage, we won't warrenty them.' By this time I'd already hit a few rails because my skis were already wrekced, I wasn't going to wrekc them anymore, right? So I told the guy that, and he was like, 'yeah, well, we'll see. I doubt it, but you can spend 100 dollars to send them here and then have them sent back to you.'

Needless to say, I now have a pair of rock/rail skis for this year and am buying a pair of either Armadas or 4Frnts. I know for a fact that 4Frnt would have warrentied them, same with K2 and probably many other companies...

Line: Never again!

if its under the boot, than it was a poor mounting job.

YAYY!!!!

Yeah, I tried to tell the shop that too. Boy were they not impressed with me after that.

Ahem, Outta Bounds in Edmonton, Alberta!!!

im pretty sure that im not speaking alone when i say that im sick of hearing you whine about your experience with line...this is like the 100th time ive read a post about you shitting on them....I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but I know plenty of kids who have had no trouble with their lines...it seems that its partially your fault for hitting the rails before you let them check the skis out....obviously their gonna think you're lying because everyone else and their brother claim to not have slid rails with theirs either..sorry you got a bad pair, but i can assure you that the majority of the time their skis are made well.

well to keep it real I started being a Poser Poser. I dress and act like a poser, but i'm not really a poser. I just pose to look like a poser posing. you know just keepin it underground

-youthinasia

then why do you keep shitting on line instead of the shop?!?!

well to keep it real I started being a Poser Poser. I dress and act like a poser, but i'm not really a poser. I just pose to look like a poser posing. you know just keepin it underground

-youthinasia

You shouldn't have hit rails with them after. that was were you had a chance of getting new ones for no money down.

I don't like to read. I like to do things people like to write about.

Well all of that, plus the skis suck. Wet noodles, falling apart, AND bad customer service in Canada??? No thanks.

To be fair, I was pretty impressed with the way Line handled me until I told them I was from Canada.

I got some troubles like yours with my skis and got some brand new ones in lest than 2 weeks.

Former LINE employee. It rocked!

^former LINE employee says it all...LINE sucks, especially after they doubled their prices right before their second year of productions. Sure, their skis suck, but that was cool when their shit cost 1/2 of everything else. Not so cool now.

my opinion

anything you have to spend all fucking summer saving up for should be warrentied with no questions asked.

see if i were to snap my skis first week into the season, thats it, hang it up, cant afford to go out and drop another $700 on skis.

any company, anywhere, regardless of whatever the hell you were doing with the skis should replace them free from any shipping or service charges.

#1 he repeated the story because i asked him what happened with the warranty

#2 line skis are great skis and the warranty is great unless you're a canadian (sorry matt hahaha)

#3 i've only actually seen line skis selling for the retail of $700 at killington rich bitch shops where the fucking yuppies from jersey & new york don't give a shit about price and make more than enough to afford them.

#4 everyone is a bunch of trend following hores that always need the newest coolest skis. just look at posts around here. everyone had to have the scratch at this time last year. its still a great ski (i know i rode it for a winter) but maybe a quarter of the people that were all about it now are still interested. the pe was a huge thing when it hit shops last christmas yet the ski is a piece of shit compared to most of the others on the market. its all hype and whats cool to have. line was cool to have because they were the only rider company...now armada (which is already dropping down the popularity chart even though its another incredible riding ski) and 4frnt are out so people say line is shit. i don't doubt 4frnt is a great ski and obviously it has the best warranty around. why do you think matt sterbenz did that. with such a fickle crowd in the freeski industry you need something to hold on to your customers for years and keep them loyal. thats my two cents. some say salomon made the first twin tip ski, but to date line has done more for the progression of the sport than any other ski company, and believe it or not they're still trying.

^ i wasnt necessarilly reffering to line skis being $700.

and by trend following whore did you mean people who buy new skis every year for the sake of buying new skis, or people who bust the shit out of theirs and get them warrentied (like how you got your tms)

What I dont get is I'm a canadian and never got any problem with the warranty nor do I know someone who have got some.

Second is LINE isnt expensive at all. Their skis are selling same price and even under any other brands. At least here in Qc.

Third is I know their products are well made and they take special care of each materials in the skis and also the making of the skis is well orchestrated. They have great standards of quality period.

for anybody that says line's are wet noodles, you don't know how to flex skis. First off, if any of you ever judge line by flexing them in the shop, know what you are doing. You can't just stand it up and give it hell, you hafta lay the tail on the ground like a ski would naturally ride, hold the ski by the front logo (not the very tip), then flex directly downwards where the boot would be mounted. You will soon realize line's construction. Lines are super soft in the tips and tails, but they are probably the stiffest skis underfoot. Set the ski down on some logs or something close to it, and space them about 2 feet apart. Try to center the ski in the middle of the logs, then stand on the ski. You will soon realize they are super stiff underfoot. Line's flex pattern takes some time to get used to, but is awesome when mastered. And besides, a wood core Line is better than any top of the line foam core ski anytime in my opinion

I'm a fat fuck and I beat the shit out of my Lines and have had zero issues with them, I like Line...

Brand new Mike Nick 171's $225

your experiance is all dependant on some things.....either way you got the shaft and it sucks for you, sorry dude! thats a shitty situation that no one should have to put up with....

first of all, the ski delamed.

PROBLEM-1: either a manufacturing deflaw by Line, or a piss poor mount job by that shop.

PROBLEM-2: shitty customer service by the salesman of that shop. pretty much, the ski industry has a shit-ton of people in it that dont realize that our generation and those younger than us are going to be the ones giving money back to the industry in future years....if they want to stay in business and be able to eat in the future, they sure as hell better get with the marketing trends and treat us like they should be.....he was giving you shit cuz you a 'punk' whos probably looking for free shit. dont get me wrong, i deal with these kind of people, hell i was like that 5 years ago too....but you have to be able to trust and 'see through' your customers.

PROBLEM-3: Piss poor service by Line. you were in thier main office and they wouldnt deal with you cuz your from Canada??? bullshit! thats horrible.....i would email Jay Leventhal about that, really! he reads his email....he's the kind of guy who might make that up to you....

either way, it all depends on who you know in the industry and if your a core customer or not in situations like this. choosing shops that are biggest and best arent always good....look into a small personal-customer oriented place. thats where you have the good service and expeirice....thier out to keep you as a customer.

if that was the shop im at....WARRANTIED. no problem, no questions asked. Line is good about warranties, not in this story tho...

this is rediculus i went on this much about this....but this stuff pisses me off bad!!!!

the whole tail on the left ski delamed on the after 7 days on the snow and i was riding the rails like a bastard and i am a canadian and i had no problem warrentying them for a new pair. although i love the accual ski i always think of it a s a time bomb about to break under my feet right when i least expect it. y the way im selling them for $1oo still under warrenty until mid season

dont get it twisted

Dude its you just got fucked. I mean just because one person has a really bad experience with a ski company doesnt mean that the skis suck. It could happen with any company and its not all Lines fault either. I mean its parially the shops

i broke my skogens last year and got GREAT service, i had brand new skis (even a year newer model) in less than 2 weeks. I had even painted my skis chrome, they were pissed about it, but they still hooked me up.

All i have to say to the kid who started this thread is: shit happens, move to the USA... or better yet send the skis from your GFs house...

skiing sucks

well considering he is sponsered by a shop that is selling 4frnt and armada only, that basically narrows your decision down

ya that sucks, ya know the way line constructs there skis, there is no material behind the sidewalls, they're super weak, if you laid the top sheet on the ground and steped on it it would crack where as salomon there is a ton of integrity in the top sheet

Line's customer service is good...they sent me a new pair of darksides after my first pair delammed..then my second pair did the same thing..and they sent me another new pair..thats 2 pairs of brand new darksides after only buying 1 pair originally. Those were the 01 darksides, they've improved alot since then. Line's a good company.

no fiveo you schmuck, it's because she isn't racist, CANADIAN is not a race. think about what you're saying.

line owns, and thier warrenty is even better. dont trash line, they have done so much for skiing and then continue to do so. skiing wouldent be where it was without line. they warentied my old blemished 153's i bought from them for 150, with BRAND new non blemished 164's the brand new ones, two years newewer then my 153's and they didnt care. infact they sent me a size i didnt want, and i needed the new ones in 3 days. they sent me the bigger size and THEY paid for overnight shipping. all they asked for was my word that i would send the smaller ones back. the FUCKIN own and thats all i have to say.

I

yea line sucks. there skis suck. there warrenty sucks. that is all. thanks.

Delam under the foot is caused by poor mounting job. Had same problem with my Burton board and the guy at my local resort skishop says the only thing that causes em is shitty mounting job. Sorry buddy, you got fucked by someone who mounted your skis... :(

I havent seen a line ski delam on the hill yet, and I talked to Line rep in UK and they says there's not even ONE complaint on ski delamination.

haha yah rs4life, grow some balls and quit blaming your shitty mounter on line. its your fault. line owns you and your mom so get over it. face it.

I

Everyone I know has had the same problem as me, becasue here in North America, we ski on something called SNOW, not carpet.

i had a pair of Line Dragon's a wicked long time ago. i bought them direct from the factory. they delamed on the tip and tail. i sent them back. Line sent me new ones. No questions asked. i hit some rails with my new Dragons. they delamed under the boot. i sent them back. line sent me some brand new Darksides (cause the Dragon went out of production). No questions asked. i hit some rails with my new Darksides. they delamed under the boot. i was sick of Lines. i told the warrenty dept. i wanted my money back. they refunded me $399 which is the original price i paid for the Dragons. moral of the story? Line has good warrenty but fragile skis. but i basically got 3 pairs of skis for free. i didn't even have to send back the darksides, they are still in my garage.

Soxripper said it all, people are all fucking trendwhores, those people have inspired me to write a regular article called 'Trendwhores' on GH (when v5 comes out), which will basically be all about the people and what the new trend is and everything.

I'm really sick of all the LINE knocking too, if it wasn't for LINE there wouldn't be 1/2 as many twin tips as there are now, LINE started it all, they started the whole Revolution and now you guys are knocking them just because YOU don't like the skis. So if you don't like them... why did you buy them in the first place? Are you too stupid to demo them first to see if you actually like them? So to vent your hatred of what happened to you you have to write a big story. All skis have problems, just the trend right now is to bitch about LINE, oh yeah, thanks for blackmailing the people that began it all.

Fucking Assholes you trendwhores are

Thats why I am also getting 4frnts. I was talking to matt about becoming a dealer and hes super helpful and quick to answer emails. I like that more then the feel of a big crp like line. so i will soon be rocking my new msp's and we will soon be one of eastern canadas only 4frnt dealers. I was also talking with the bys at armada about becoming a reseller and they were superhelpful. Then when i emailed the cdn distributer it turns out that armada is completely sold out for the season. I also emailed line, not that i would ever choose their skis over 4frnt or armada, but i figured they had a good name...still no response. Looks like were gonna be carrying 4frnt and armada. not i just need to find a good bindingand boot manufacture..
